The Best Things to Do in Aruba

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

Are you looking for a magical getaway island where everyone is happy? Look no more, it sits right in the Caribbean known as “One Happy Island Aruba”. I’ll tell you everything that you can do on this most desirable island of Aruba. So, let me give you a verbal tour of this Caribbean paradise:

  1. Beach Time

Laying down as Aruba’s longest and best-known beach is Eagle Beach. This 25 km long paradise is also known as the third most beautiful beach in the world according to GEO and no doubt makes this place definitely worth a visit. Another earthly heaven is the beautiful Manchebo Beach, a place which oozes serenity due to its lack of too many commercial spots for the tourists, therefore, it was my favourite beach in Aruba. The perfect place for a pleasurable time.

Apart from these if anyone feels that they have seen enough of these two beaches, which I hardly believe can be true or even possible, can sometimes make a detour to the Mangel Halto beach. But be known that this place too lacks shops for drinks or snacks. All you need to do here is sit back and relax. Just gaze into the gigantic, luminous sunset and enjoy the aura of peace while being surrounded by a fascinating mangrove belt.

  1. It’s all about food

The best thing about food is that once you find something that blows your taste buds away it along the way also fills you with a feeling of sheer joy and happiness. So, I consider it necessary that everyone gets to have a taste of the great food experiences that I had.

Breakfast

  • Craft Café is an absolutely Instagramable café. Stylish location and modern dishes is the perfect recipe for a gorgeous photograph. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it is delicious too 😉

  • Garden Fresh Café is located on Palm Beach. As the name indicates this place is dedicated to serving fresh and healthy foods. This healthy hotspot provides you with exceptional smoothie bowls to everything that you might need for a fresh and healthy start into the day.
  • Eduardo’s Beach Shack is a thatch-roofed oasis for all the food lovers. It can be seen from afar with the picture of shakes in front of the small juice bar. The location is very touristy, which you can hardly recognize in the pictures, but a visit there is worth it. The bowls are not just dreamy visually, but their taste too is out of the world.

Lunch & Dinner

  • Bugaloe Beach Bar and Grill welcomes you to its sumptuous food menu from 7:30 to 0:00. Here you can enjoy a quick snack or a cocktail in a unique setting. In the afternoon, live music was my absolute favourite.

  • The West Deck provides you with a memorable fast food experience by the sea. Also, it is not too far from the airport.
  • Barefoot Restaurant is now my favourite restaurant, probably because we sat here right on the beach and admired a wonderfully gorgeous sunset with great food.

  1. Meet me in the desert

You must have probably thought at some point that Aruba is just a small desert island with too many beaches and too little land. But let me rectify this fallacy.

This Happy Island offers real action adventures in the Arikok National Park. Our tour operator raced with us in a jeep through this cacti filled landscape. I cannot recommend that to you, because it is very shaky and a little too touristy for my tastes. However, I witnessed great trips in the desert on a quad. It looked like a real adventure to me. If you hire a jeep, you can explore the desert on your own.

Also, be sure to visit the Quadirikiri Cave until about 12 o’clock in the morning. Why? Because through the hole in the cave ceiling you will see this gorgeous morning light making its way in and forming a spot in the cave. It is an unforgettable place, where you can orient easily towards using Google Maps.

  1. Sail Away

Directly at the Bugaloe Beach Bar and Grill the catamarans, sailing ships and motorboats leave the island for a “Sunset Cruise” or a lively afternoon. We had decided on the lively afternoon and were absolutely not disappointed. 3-4 hours of great music, beautiful views, two long snorkel breaks and Aruba Ariba made the whole experience worth it. Our fun factor was 10/10. At TripAdvisor you can find countless tour operators beforehand otherwise you can also just decide on the spot.

  1. Embrace your inner Flamingo

There can hardly be anything pinker than at the private island of the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino. The small island is divided into two areas and you will quickly see where the flamingos are because every visitor wants to take a picture with them. Children are only allowed in the morning for about 2 hours on the island. The day pass is around 110 € including the shuttle from the hotel to the island. It’s probably worth spending the night in the hotel if you get a good deal.

But let’s come to the mother of all questions.  Is it worth it to go to the island? For those who are keen on the flamingos, you should definitely spend a day on the island. The white and clean beach and the lonely hammocks are a highlight in my opinion even without the flamingos. But beware of the rough service in the restaurant on the island.

  1. Feel the Caribbean Feeling

The Aruba Ocean Villas are probably not the cheapest accommodation in Aruba but they are unique, small and just beautiful. Here you can switch off the stress and simply enjoy. It does not matter if it’s one night or an entire week. You live in an idyllic villa on the sea and hear from time to time only the waves beat. My absolute highlight: the beach bar.

If you are based in Germany, you can fly with KLM from almost any airport just to Aruba. The tickets cost between 600 €.

 DEU

  1. Beach time

  1. It is all about Food

    Breakfast

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Meet me in the desert

  1. Embrace your inner Flamingo

  1. Feel the Caribbean feeling

A romantic place to spend your Valentine’s day!

Book a trip for you and your love at a real romantic hotel, and trust me, you’ll definitely be on cloud nine! The Romantik Hotel The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa will not only spoil you with culinary delights but also with pure relaxation, fun, entertainment and love, especially during the winter time; Tschiertschen is a winter wonderland.

The newly renovated hotel with a modern interior design is directly at the ski lift, which is perfect for beginners or smooth drivers. If you are not into skiing, explore the hiking trails in front of the hotel or rent an e-mountain bike. Duke and I sledged at the back of the hotel, and I was happy that I did not have to run up the mountain by myself all the time. The mountain in the back of the hotel has a small ski lift for children, beginners or sled fanatics. After a long day on the slopes, you have to visit the hotel’s Apres-Ski bar for a flavourful aperitif.

The romantic amongst the guests may prefer a day in the wellness area and relax in the numerous saunas. Afterwards, I highly recommend a full-body massage.

In the evening, you and your loved one will enjoy a festive candle light dinner for two or even with several friends.

I don’t believe that someone will not love it  at the Romantik Hotel TheAlpina Mountain Resort & Spa as Mrs. & Mr Gehring run the place with great pleasure and professionalism. They make sure that you don’t miss anything. Loads of guests (including myself) returned to the hotel because of the atmosphere and the fantastic scenery. The Romantik Hotel The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa is not just worth a visit during the winter time but also during the summer time.

10 reasons why you have to spend your next holiday in Croatia

Villa Ana Bol, Brac, Croatia
  1. Food

Try burek with cheese or meat at a bakery or get it from the supermarket. If you like octopus, have a black risotto. A more savoury dish is cevapcici with chips and ajvar.

  1. Small islands

I mentioned already in one of my articles before that Croatia’s islands can also be called the European Maledives. Visit Brač, Hvar or any other island. Every city has beautiful islands around.

  1. Nature

Don’t miss one of the two famous national parks, Plitvice Lake or Krka, when you are in Zadar or Split. Adriatic4You offers great trips to both parks.

  1. Prices

Croatia is not as expensive as other summer destinations in Europe. Restaurants are much cheaper as well as supermarkets.

  1. Uber

Croatia has Uber since a few months, which is totally awesome!! Heading from one place to the other costs almost the same as taking the bus. A ride, which takes about 10 minutes costs about 5€. So don’t forget to download the app before your trip.

  1. People

Croatians are very nice. You do not have to be afraid if you travel alone. I have been on my own and I always felt safe!

Sailing Croatia Split

  1. Sunsets

You must have seen at least one sunset in Croatia. Zadar’s sunset at the sea organs is very famous but you could also enjoy it on a sunset sailing trip or even just at the beach.

  1. Activities

I promise you that you will never get bored in Croatia. There are so many activities offered such as hiking, biking, riding, sailing, water sports, day trips and many more.

  1. Game of Thrones

All Game of Thrones fans have the opportunity to see where their favourite TV show was taken. Walk through King’s Landing and think yourself back in the time of the show.

Dubrovnik Old City Historical City

  1. Lovely family-run apartments

My last stop was in Mlini, which is a 10 min drive away from Dubrovnik. Villa Mlini has lovely apartments and double rooms next to the beach. I really loved the little and comfortable balcony with sea view.

My room was very clean and I slept well in the big bed. The owners are very nice and will always help you if you need anything.

In addition, Mlini is not overloaded with tourists and you have so many little beaches close to Villa Mlini. Although, Mlini is a much smaller place at the coast than Dubrovnik, you will find many places to eat and a supermarket. I recommend to take the ferry to Dubrovnik instead of taking the bus. It takes about 15 minutes longer but you will have a wonderful time on the boat with a stunning view. At the beaches in Mlini, you will find many places to rent a boat, kayak, paddleboat or to do any water activities.
