Things to be Considered When Going to Amalfi Coast

ENG

The beautiful pictures of Positano and the Amalfi Coast have seduced me, too to take a trip to the Amalfi Coast. However, I was previously unaware of some things that could have made the trip much more enjoyable. Therefore, I have summarized for you things which you should better not do and also the places where you should pay a visit.

Avoid Driving a Car

The roads in the Amalfi Coast are so narrow that you should not drive a car there yourself. You can either travel with a tour operator like Sunland for example or drive by public bus from one coastal town to another. We drove both by car and by scooter along the coast. I would always prefer the Jollyrent Vespa as my go to ride. You rarely get stuck in a traffic jam and never or rarely get alarmed by the narrow streets.

Do Not Park

Parking on the Amalfi coast is unbelievably expensive. Mostly you pay 25 €-30 € for 24 hours or about 3 € per hour. In some suburbs, you can also park for 1 € per hour but these parking lots, of course, are much sought after by the locals.

Do Not Go With the Flow

Get up early and start your coastal tour in the early morning. The small mountain villages are mostly still empty and you avoid getting stuck in a traffic jam with the other tourists. Also, in the afternoon on the way back you will have the roads for you.

Eat With a View

While we dined royally in the restaurant L’Antica Cartiera, we could hear the waves beat against the cliffs and of course the sea. L’Antica Cartiera is one of the few hotel restaurants in the Amalfi Coast, right on the water. The attentive service fulfills every culinary desire.

My Tip: Treat yourself with the lobster along with the black noodles.

Do not forget to book a place with a sea view.

Visit Ravello

The well-known city of Positano attracts most tourists to the Amalfi Coast. Try either visiting it early in the morning or admire the small colorful houses from a distance. Because when tourists squeeze through the narrow streets, even a visit to Positano is no fun. A great view, shops, beautiful gardens, and culinary delights can be found in the small hill town of Ravello.

Visit the Beach in Minori

You want to relax for a day and let your mind wander? Then just drive to the beach promenade to Minori or Maiori.

These two places are only a few minutes’ drives from the Amalfi Coast.

DEU

Avoid driving a car

Don’t go with the flow

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Eat with a view

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Visit Ravello

Visit the Beach in Minori

ENG

Those who travel from the southernmost point of Italy to the third largest city in Italy, get on the trip of the most varied impressions. From architectural beauties and decay, natural wonders for the eye and exotic smells for the nose is all there you will find everything there. It was a fascinating journey that has allowed me to experience Italy from a completely different perspective.

Catania – our outward flight went from Cologne directly to Catania. Thanks to EconomyBookings.com, we easily got our rental car, which took us safely to every destination during the week. From the airport, we drove around for 40 minutes to our accommodation Path House. Attention! If you miss an exit, you will have to drive extra for about 20 minutes. Our rooftop apartment was the perfect base from which we explored the three highlights in the area:

– The volcano Etna

– The tourist and hill town of Taormina

– Isola Bella

All the activities have pleased me, but unfortunately, there was not much to see on this side of Sicily except tourists, chaotic traffic and dirty, scary narrow streets, which would probably be all blocked in Germany by the public order office. I flew to Sicily with such high expectations, as I was always told of a “European Caribbean”, but when we took the ferry from Messina to the mainland, I was rather relieved.

Amalfi Coast – The five-hour drive to the Amalfi Coast is an experience in itself. You drive through several national parks, which are sprinkled with natural beauty and then sometimes you cross a city that looks like it could urgently need a refurbishment. In my opinion, it is an experience that should not be missed.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Half an hour before you reach the Amalfi coast and the small hill town of Ravello, you will once again experience a breathtaking mountain scenery. I was completely amazed by them. Although, those who cannot ride well curvy and narrow routes, should first take a tranquilizer.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Later we arrived in Ravello, and thanks to Sunland, we could experience an accommodation with a view that is simply made for advertising. A dream! In Minori, you can park cheaply and conveniently enjoy a beachfront with Martini Bianco. Ravello, a must place to be visited on the Amalfi Coast, offers not only a gigantic view but also many shops for small accessory shopping tour and cafes with Italian delicacies. You should do the coastal drive with a scooter or a bus. For insecure drivers, the narrow streets can be exhausting. We drove with a Vespa rented from Jollyrent, from Ravello to Positano. Try to drive against the current if possible. Also, try to go back early and sooner than the others. The small tourist crowded downtown in Positano should be avoided. Remember the unique view of Positano.

Ravello and the Amalfi Coast were the highlights of our journey because we had no idea what we would come across next – Naples. Since the ferries in Salerno, Sorrento, etc. only go to Capri on a calm sea, we opted for a safe crossing with SNAV from Naples. The streets in Naples are filled with garbage, dark shapes, and dirt. Sure, I first felt at the harbor again.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

After arriving in Capri it seemed to me again like I was on another planet. There was no sign of crime here. It’s a wonderful island in the daytime for many tourists in Capri. That’s why we fled to Anacapri and were warmly welcomed at the Hotel Al Mulino. The peaceful atmosphere in the whole hotel let me first process all my travel experiences. Try to visit Anacapri in the morning and Capri in the afternoon, otherwise, you will find many “day tourists”. You can relax here especially well on the trails with a view of the sea.

After two days in Capri, our eventful week was unfortunately over.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Italy, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, Road Trip, Capri

5 Best Things to Do in Berlin

Berlin, Hyperion Hotel, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Annika

ENG

If you come to Berlin during the summer months, it is easy to spend your time outdoors, picnic in one of the city’s parks, laze around the surrounding lakes or drink a cold beer. But winter is by no means a bad time to visit, too: you are attracted to the rich cultural landscape of Berlin, from the Museum Islands to the annual Berlinale Film Festivals, local markets, and museums.

Here are the best things to do in Berlin – no matter which season it is. Just earn the money in a Playhouse from Online Casino Lists page and start your journey. This is a good idea to save a little money and take another trip.

Be Sure to Visit These Places in Berlin

Berlin, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Germany

Parliament

This neo-baroque building of the German Bundestag survived wars, Nazis, fire, bombing and the division of the country only to return as a symbol of a new era of German politics. A visit to the top of this open, playful and defiantly democratic space is a must.

Zoo

Make yourself feel and act like a Berliner and stretch your legs while strolling, jogging or biking through Berlin’s most famous park. Whether you are hunting for famous monuments, a beer, and a sausage or a place for sunbathing, you will find what you are looking for. This 5km stretch will take you back to your starting point in about an hour, ready for your next adventure.

Mauerpark

The Mauerpark is one of the largest and most visited Sunday flea markets in Berlin and sells everything from local designer clothes to cartons with black market CDs. Even if the market’s popularity is causing prices to rise, you can still find a lot of rare records or vintage clothing. It is also the venue for the hugely popular weekly outdoor session, Bearpit Karaoke, etc.

Berlinale

The Berlinale, or Berlin International Film Festival if we are to use its official title, was founded in 1951 and is one of the most popular film festivals in the world. The Potsdamer Platz is a fixture in the global cultural calendar and turns every February into a glimmering stage of glamor, excitement and big movie stars.

Although Potsdamer Platz is the focal point of the festival, demonstrations take place throughout the city, including in Alexanderplatz, and the Zoo Palast in Tiergarten. Thus, the Berlinale offers the opportunity to not only see undiscovered films and to exchange views with film friends and industry leaders, but to experience the unique architectural and cultural heritage of Berlin.

Market Hall IX

Towards the end of the 19th century, 14 markets were opened with urban markets to replace the traditional outdoor ones and to improve the hygiene standards. Residents saved this restaurant from closure in 2009 and filled it with stalls selling traditional vegetables and local meats. Here you can also find the outstanding Heidenpeters microbrewery and the bakery Sironi from Milan.

It is only a small part of what you can see and do in Berlin. Berlin is perfect for a short trip where you can find a whole week of different activities. Come to this beautiful city and spend a great time every month of the year.

Berlin, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Germany

1.Reichstag

The most beautiful places in Lagos

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

EN

I have traveled, so far, in almost every country in southern Europe but, Portugal has been on my list for ages. This dream of mine came true in mid-September. After exploring the fabulous capital and the Pena Palace in Sintra, we took a rental car directly to the Algarve coast. Within 5 days we have not only discovered the colorful streets, heavenly beaches, and a luxury boutique hotel, but also a fabulous restaurant in the middle of a bay.

Make sure not to miss out the most beautiful places in Lagos for that visit some places of my “Must Do list” 🙂 especially, in autumn but, you can still enjoy the summer here.

1.The Narrow Streets of Lagos

Of course, on our first evening, I got lost in the small town while traveling by car. I would recommend that to anyone because the beautiful narrow streets are not suitable for cars. But they are perfect for strolling. In the historic center of Lagos, there are numerous colorful houses and many of them are covered with ornate tiles. If you are in town, make sure to stop by Coffee & Waves. Everything is just right here: coffee, breakfast and the décor. The chilled and cool “surfer atmosphere” spreads quickly over to every visitor, so that you leave the small café saturated with peace and relaxation.

2. Meia Praia

In the immediate vicinity of the old town is also a kilometer-long picture-perfect beach, where one gets to walk under the sun, in the sandy beaches. You can head there for free. After about walking for 45 minutes you will reach the Onyria Palmares Beach House Hotel.

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

3. The Oasis in Lagos

Just last year Onyria Palmares Beach House Hotel opened with 20 spacious rooms. Sea view can be enjoyed both from the terrace and from the bed. The quality breakfast invites you to linger on the main terrace in the morning. Their selection could be a bit more varied, though. But during the day you have a lot of activities to do. The golf course right outside the door, of course, offers you to play golf. My highlight was the quiet pool with a great view and not to forget the e-bikes. We could not have explored Lagos better than without the e-bikes. A whole day we drove through the city and along the sea.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend their room service. But, we have found two great alternatives for that, which are only 25 minutes away.

4. Food Heaven

In the restaurant Canico fresh fish is served in a rock wall, right by the sea. Here I discovered my new favorite wine “Vallado”. The service here is very friendly which you will experience as soon as you sit. Even, before the fish is finished, it will be presented to you again by a waiter. Without a reservation, it is difficult to get a table immediately in this restaurant.

Another evening, we were pampered in the hotel restaurant Mirandus. Located in a beautiful neighborhood, the restaurant offers excellent quality cuisine with a wonderful view of the cliff over the sea. We were lucky that we were there early enough before the sunset so that we were allowed to celebrate the regional dishes in front of a romantic backdrop. In addition, there is also a tasty selection of vegetarian, vegan and raw food.

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

5. Out-of-this-World Beaches

Directly in front of the restaurant Canico, you will find the João de Arens Beach. At low tide, you can even go through a rock tunnel and visit the almost untouched neighboring beach. If you are unable to see the rock tunnel from below, you will also have the opportunity to admire the breathtaking coast at the top of the rock and choose a beautiful spot.

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

The crystal blue water in the picturesque bay Praia de Albandeira has just fascinated us so much that it definitely belongs to this list. Again, it is worth the hike over the rocks, as well as the walk on the coast.

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

6. Discover the Tourist Attractions

The two beaches Praia Dona Ana and Ponta da Piedade are among the “Top 10” on TripAdvisor. They are both definitely worth a visit. Praia Dona Ana should be visited because of the long-known staircase to the bay and the view from the lighthouse on Ponta da Piedade also has something to offer. However, I would not dwell eternally on both the places, because they are not an insider tip. 😉

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

The Algarve coast has by no means has seen the last of me. With an average of 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, the Algarve is one of the sunniest regions in Europe. So, let’s go! 🙂

Also lasst euch die schönsten Orte in Lagos auf keinen Fall entgehen und besichtigt einige Punkte meiner MUST DO Liste!

1.The narrow streets of Lagos

3. The Oasis in Lagos

6. Discover the tourist attractions

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Fasten Ur Seatbelts,

Also nichts wie los! 🙂

The World’s Three Best Observation Decks

New York City, New York Guide, Fasten Ur Seatebelts, Annika

ENG

As far as I am concerned, the higher the better is my main motto. Through Attraction Tickets Direct, I’ve been able to visit tourist attractions, which are at great heights, quite a few times. Whether I am in Dubai, London or New York, I have always found the right attraction. Observation platforms fascinate me not only because of their height but also with their impressive architecture and, of course, the beautiful panoramic view they offer over the respective city. I had the three most exciting elevator rides last year in Dubai, London, and New York.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

One of the places in Dubai that absolutely must be visited is the Burj Khalifa. It is the tallest building in the world. Burj Khalifa was named after the president of Abu Dhabi, because of his kindness and services for Dubai when it was in a financial crisis. Here, you have the opportunity to visit the 124th and 125th floor for around 32€. You can enjoy the view as long as you want to. Do not forget to buy the tickets online, as otherwise, they can be very expensive and you will have to wait for a long time to get them. ATD will even refund you the difference if you find cheaper tickets at another provider.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Dubai, Annika,

The View from The Shard, London

I have already seen London from above the London Eye and greatly recommend the ride on the London Eye, too. But if you like to drink a glass of champagne or any other drink at a 310 m height and want to enjoy every corner of London, then visit the observation deck “The Shard.”

London, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, London Guide, South Place Hotel

Top of the Rock, New York

You should not miss the view of the New York skyline. Above all, you only have a limited visiting time when you are up there because you get a ticket for a certain time slot. You should register for a time slot early in the morning or the day before. With the New York Explorer Pass, for example, you can choose three main attractions in New York for just € 78. Once you have that, you can avoid queues and save about 45% on a single ticket. One of our selected attractions was Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center.

New York City, New York Guide, Fasten Ur Seatebelts, Annika

Will, you be back soon in Europe, Dubai or maybe in the US? Just let me know in a comment. If you’re looking for more ideas for popular theme parks, great attractions, and diverse attractions, check out ATD, the world’s largest ticket provider.

DEU

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Dubai, Annika,

The View from The Shard, London

Top of the Rock, New York

36 hours in Lisbon

Lisbon, 36 hours, Lissabon, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

Are you planning a trip to Lisbon, or are you still not sure whether Lisbon is the right decision for your trip? If yes, then you are exactly in the right place. Together with my mom, I explored the fascinating capital of Portugal in mid-September and summarized for you what you should see in 3 days.

Day 1: Visit the modern and historical parts of Lisbon

Before we start our program, of course, we must first enjoy our breakfast in the city hotel PortoBay Marquês. This is the perfect base for a city trip to Lisbon. From here, you can start your excursion every morning on foot.

For us, it started in the 10 o’clock direction towards Praça de Dom Pedro IV also known as Rossio Square. On the way to one of the most central squares in Lisbon, we strolled on the Avenida da Liberdade. This place, next to a beautiful avenue, displays the “Who’s Who” of the fashion industry.

Talking about the fashion industry, Rossio Square goes straight my favorite shops in Rua Augusta: Zara, Bershka, and Stradivarius etc.

From here, you can already see the Arch of Rua Augusta framing the Praça do Comércio.

Now, after the stroll, you have earned a short break at the sea. Be careful, because bags are often stolen or drugs are sold over here.

Recovered? Then resume your trip on to the historic city of Alfama. Just follow the signs to Castelo de São Jorge and enjoy the Portuguese flair on the way. Do not forget to stop at one of the numerous Miradouros (viewpoints), and enjoy the view over Lisbon.

At the top, you have earned a “Wine with a view”, one of the coolest inventions that I came by during my travels. A mobile wine bar that stands at almost every hotspot.

If you get hungry and thirsty, get off at the Rossio Square and either take the historic elevator Elevador de Santa Justa to Bairro Alto or simply walk the few stairs on foot or by tram. Lisbon’s nightlife is raging here on weekends, and even during the week, you will find numerous small restaurants overlooking the city or in a small cozy alley to make your day.

My tip: The little wine bar

Oben angekommen habt ihr euch erstmal einen “Wine with a view“ verdient!

Mein Tipp: The little Wine bar

Day 2: Sweeten up your trip!

On the second day we wanted to quickly admire Lisbon from above before our departure and so, went quickly to the Eduardo VII Park. It is truly just a 5 minutes’ walk from the Hotel PortoBay Marques.

Having covered many kilometers on the first day, we earned an UBER ride to Belém today. But you can also go to Belém using the famous Tram 28. Why Belém?

Here you can get Pastéis de Belém the most delicious and traditional cream cake in Lisbon. Next door, there is also a Starbucks coffee for every Starbucks lover.

From here, you pass the Monastery of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos to the UNESCO World Heritage Torre de Belém, which used to guard the harbor entrance.

On the promenade, you can get at several stands a delicious snack and of course again a “Wine with a view”.

Lastly, if you’re already in Belém, you’ll need to complete your day with a sunset cruise. Not only the skipper was a real eye-catcher, but also to explore Lisbon from the water, is truly a dream. You get a very different view of the third longest suspension bridge in the world, Ponte 25 de Abril, and the city, built on seven hills.

Lisbon, 36 hours, Lissabon, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

Lisbon, 36 hours, Lissabon, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

Day 3 – Sintra – The Portuguese Disneyland

Everyone we met in Lisbon told us about Sintra and, of course, we went to the little village outside with great expectations. My only recommendation is that you should not drive there by a car, instead, book a tour. That way you save some time instead of wasting it on searching for a parking space. You are also led out directly in front of the sights this way.

Lisbon, 36 hours, Lissabon, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

Since we did not have much time left on our last day in Lisbon, we just went to see the Palácio Nacional da Pena in more detail and I have to say it was worth it. The picturesque palace is truly like you are in a Disneyland and in addition, it is a great photo spot. However, you should be there for a good picture before its 10’o clock.

At the end when one admires the view from one of the terraces and takes a deep breath, one knows that one will return to Lisbon.

Lisbon, 36 hours, Lissabon, Fasten Ur Seatbelts
