Exclusive villas with that little extra

All Baayvillas in Dutchen Holiday Park are exclusive, of high quality and very attractively furnished. Due to the division into two floors, they are extremely spacious and yet comfortably furnished. The light-flooded rooms, in combination with the bright, natural colours, create an immediate feel-good atmosphere. Via the large glass front of the terrace, holidaymakers can reach the outside, where a fireplace makes cosy barbecue or campfire evenings possible all year round. Guests have direct access to the sea via their own bathing jetty or one shared with another villa, where a boat can also be moored. Each villa has a private whirlpool on the terrace – sufficient relaxation is provided at all times.

Activities in the immediate vicinity

For those interested in exploring the area surrounding Baayvillas, there are several options. Five times a day there is a ferry to the Wadden Island Schiermonnikoog, which is unspoilt and offers beautiful walks in the habitat of the diverse bird life. Nature lovers also get their money’s worth during mudflat walks in the Moddergat mudflats or interesting oyster walks. Not only are the oysters harvested and their living conditions explained, but they are also opened fresh on site and tasted.

At least as interesting is the Pieterburen Seal Centre – Europe’s largest hospital for seals and harbour seals. There, injured and weakened animals are taken in, nursed up and then, if they are strong enough, returned to their natural environment.

Guests who want to get a breath of city air or run some errands can visit the beautiful old towns of Groningen or Dokkum, an old fortified town.

Those travelling with children can visit a small playground within walking distance of only five minutes or take a trip to the covered DoeZoo. Experiencing with all the senses is a priority here: The little guests are allowed to get up close and personal with the animals. Kissing frogs, carrying snakes around their necks or stroking the cute skunks are guaranteed to make a visit to the zoo unforgettable. For nice-weather days, the Adventure Park Waddenfun is perfect. Whether it’s canoeing, climbing in the high ropes course, archery or laser games – action fans will get their money’s worth here. Skill and courage, paired with adrenaline, guarantee lots of excitement and fun. The Adventure Park is a great destination for guests who want to experience an unforgettable day together with their family or friends travelling with them.

Staycation: Tips for a Relaxing Holiday at Home!

Even if your trip has been cancelled or you prefer to stay at home, your holiday is far from being cancelled!

Whether you’re sitting back in your garden, lounging on your balcony, just enjoying nature or are cooped up in the four walls of your house, you can have just as much fun in your free days!

Take the chance, and make the best of summer 2020. Get to know your own city better, get your home back in shape, learn new recipes, or DIY projects or just lie under the bright, warm sun.

For you, I have jotted down the best tips!

A #staycation should be planned like a holiday. Otherwise, you will fall into your daily rhythm and won’t allow yourself any time out!

City Trip at Home

Have you ever had a guided tour of your home town? Do you know all the corners? I must confess that I only know a few districts in Cologne. Get to know your city by bike or on foot. Go to the areas you haven’t been to yet and visit new restaurants and cafes.

Nature Lover

There must be a lake or a forest in your immediate vicinity. Take a trip to see fresh nature in all its glory and enjoy a sunny day with a picnic or with an entertaining book or podcast.

Holiday at Home

Why don’t you design a theme room? We picked out the online shop 4Murs.de and could shop directly by themes such as Tropical Mood or Arty Life. So it wasn’t hard for us to find some furniture and decoration articles for our Boho Beach room.

In our comfortable bamboo armchair, I‘ve already read some books.

But of course, you can also redesign your garden! I have built up a cosy corner with candles and fairy lights. In our hammock, I often like to lie in the evening with a glass of wine and our dogs.

Meanwhile, I have also tested some DIY projects like my self-made wooden ladder, which we used as a “herb garden”.

DIY, Dekoleiter, Deco Ladder, Do it yourself, Dekoleiter selber bauen, Hänge Vase, Kräutergarten

No matter if you live alone or in several homes, your friends and family will be happy about brunch or an invitation for dinner. Try out new recipes or improve your cooking skills.

Look at the time you’re spending at home in a positive light and make the most of it. Your travel budget for next year is likely to be larger, as home vacations are usually cheaper. You don’t have to worry about missing a plane or train. But the best thing is that you can take the time to do the things you didn’t do before.

The Best Things to Do in Aruba

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

Are you looking for a magical getaway island where everyone is happy? Look no more, it sits right in the Caribbean known as “One Happy Island Aruba”. I’ll tell you everything that you can do on this most desirable island of Aruba. So, let me give you a verbal tour of this Caribbean paradise:

  1. Beach Time

Laying down as Aruba’s longest and best-known beach is Eagle Beach. This 25 km long paradise is also known as the third most beautiful beach in the world according to GEO and no doubt makes this place definitely worth a visit. Another earthly heaven is the beautiful Manchebo Beach, a place which oozes serenity due to its lack of too many commercial spots for the tourists, therefore, it was my favourite beach in Aruba. The perfect place for a pleasurable time.

Apart from these if anyone feels that they have seen enough of these two beaches, which I hardly believe can be true or even possible, can sometimes make a detour to the Mangel Halto beach. But be known that this place too lacks shops for drinks or snacks. All you need to do here is sit back and relax. Just gaze into the gigantic, luminous sunset and enjoy the aura of peace while being surrounded by a fascinating mangrove belt.

  1. It’s all about food

The best thing about food is that once you find something that blows your taste buds away it along the way also fills you with a feeling of sheer joy and happiness. So, I consider it necessary that everyone gets to have a taste of the great food experiences that I had.

Breakfast

  • Craft Café is an absolutely Instagramable café. Stylish location and modern dishes is the perfect recipe for a gorgeous photograph. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it is delicious too 😉

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  • Garden Fresh Café is located on Palm Beach. As the name indicates this place is dedicated to serving fresh and healthy foods. This healthy hotspot provides you with exceptional smoothie bowls to everything that you might need for a fresh and healthy start into the day.
  • Eduardo’s Beach Shack is a thatch-roofed oasis for all the food lovers. It can be seen from afar with the picture of shakes in front of the small juice bar. The location is very touristy, which you can hardly recognize in the pictures, but a visit there is worth it. The bowls are not just dreamy visually, but their taste too is out of the world.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

Lunch & Dinner

  • Bugaloe Beach Bar and Grill welcomes you to its sumptuous food menu from 7:30 to 0:00. Here you can enjoy a quick snack or a cocktail in a unique setting. In the afternoon, live music was my absolute favourite.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  • The West Deck provides you with a memorable fast food experience by the sea. Also, it is not too far from the airport.
  • Barefoot Restaurant is now my favourite restaurant, probably because we sat here right on the beach and admired a wonderfully gorgeous sunset with great food.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Meet me in the desert

You must have probably thought at some point that Aruba is just a small desert island with too many beaches and too little land. But let me rectify this fallacy.

This Happy Island offers real action adventures in the Arikok National Park. Our tour operator raced with us in a jeep through this cacti filled landscape. I cannot recommend that to you, because it is very shaky and a little too touristy for my tastes. However, I witnessed great trips in the desert on a quad. It looked like a real adventure to me. If you hire a jeep, you can explore the desert on your own.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

Also, be sure to visit the Quadirikiri Cave until about 12 o’clock in the morning. Why? Because through the hole in the cave ceiling you will see this gorgeous morning light making its way in and forming a spot in the cave. It is an unforgettable place, where you can orient easily towards using Google Maps.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Sail Away

Directly at the Bugaloe Beach Bar and Grill the catamarans, sailing ships and motorboats leave the island for a “Sunset Cruise” or a lively afternoon. We had decided on the lively afternoon and were absolutely not disappointed. 3-4 hours of great music, beautiful views, two long snorkel breaks and Aruba Ariba made the whole experience worth it. Our fun factor was 10/10. At TripAdvisor you can find countless tour operators beforehand otherwise you can also just decide on the spot.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Embrace your inner Flamingo

There can hardly be anything pinker than at the private island of the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino. The small island is divided into two areas and you will quickly see where the flamingos are because every visitor wants to take a picture with them. Children are only allowed in the morning for about 2 hours on the island. The day pass is around 110 € including the shuttle from the hotel to the island. It’s probably worth spending the night in the hotel if you get a good deal.

But let’s come to the mother of all questions.  Is it worth it to go to the island? For those who are keen on the flamingos, you should definitely spend a day on the island. The white and clean beach and the lonely hammocks are a highlight in my opinion even without the flamingos. But beware of the rough service in the restaurant on the island.

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Feel the Caribbean Feeling

The Aruba Ocean Villas are probably not the cheapest accommodation in Aruba but they are unique, small and just beautiful. Here you can switch off the stress and simply enjoy. It does not matter if it’s one night or an entire week. You live in an idyllic villa on the sea and hear from time to time only the waves beat. My absolute highlight: the beach bar.

If you are based in Germany, you can fly with KLM from almost any airport just to Aruba. The tickets cost between 600 €.

 DEU

  1. Beach time

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. It is all about Food

    Breakfast

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Meet me in the desert

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Sail away

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Embrace your inner Flamingo

Fasten Ur Seatbelts, Caribbean, Karibik, Aruba

  1. Feel the Caribbean feeling
