Are you planning a trip to Lisbon, or are you still not sure whether Lisbon is the right decision for your trip? If yes, then you are exactly in the right place. Together with my mom, I explored the fascinating capital of Portugal in mid-September and summarized for you what you should see in 3 days.

Ihr plant also einen Trip nach Lissabon oder seid euch noch nicht sicher, ob Lissabon die richtige Entscheidung ist?! Dann seid ihr hier genau richtig! Mit meiner Mama zusammen habe ich Mitte September die faszinierende Hauptstadt Portugals erkundet und für euch zusammengefasst, was ihr in 3 Tagen sehen solltet!

Day 1: Visit the modern and historical parts of Lisbon

Before we start our program, of course, we must first enjoy our breakfast in the city hotel PortoBay Marquês. This is the perfect base for a city trip to Lisbon. From here, you can start your excursion every morning on foot.

For us, it started in the 10 o’clock direction towards Praça de Dom Pedro IV also known as Rossio Square. On the way to one of the most central squares in Lisbon, we strolled on the Avenida da Liberdade. This place, next to a beautiful avenue, displays the “Who’s Who” of the fashion industry.

Talking about the fashion industry, Rossio Square goes straight my favorite shops in Rua Augusta: Zara, Bershka, and Stradivarius etc.

From here, you can already see the Arch of Rua Augusta framing the Praça do Comércio.

Now, after the stroll, you have earned a short break at the sea. Be careful, because bags are often stolen or drugs are sold over here.

Recovered? Then resume your trip on to the historic city of Alfama. Just follow the signs to Castelo de São Jorge and enjoy the Portuguese flair on the way. Do not forget to stop at one of the numerous Miradouros (viewpoints), and enjoy the view over Lisbon.

At the top, you have earned a “Wine with a view”, one of the coolest inventions that I came by during my travels. A mobile wine bar that stands at almost every hotspot.

If you get hungry and thirsty, get off at the Rossio Square and either take the historic elevator Elevador de Santa Justa to Bairro Alto or simply walk the few stairs on foot or by tram. Lisbon’s nightlife is raging here on weekends, and even during the week, you will find numerous small restaurants overlooking the city or in a small cozy alley to make your day.

My tip: The little wine bar

Bevor wir mit unserem Programm starten, müssen wir natürlich erstmal unser Frühstück im Stadthotel Portobay Marques genießen! Der perfekte Ausgangspunkt für eine Städtereise nach Lissabon! Von hier könnt ihr jeden Morgen euer Programm zu Fuß starten.

Für uns ging es gegen 10 Uhr los Richtung Praça de Dom Pedro IV auch bekannt als Rossio. Auf dem Weg zu einem der zentralsten Plätzen in Lissabon schlenderten wir schon über die Avenida da Liberdade. Hier präsentiert sich neben einer wunderschönen Allee das „Who is Who“ aus der Modebranche!

Apropos Modebranche geht es vom Rossio direkt weiter zu meinen Lieblingsläden in der Rue Augusta:

Zara, Berschka, Stradivarius….

Von hier aus seht ihr schon den Triumphbogen Arco da Rua Augusta, der den Praça do Comércio einrahmt.

Nun habt ihr eine kurze Pause am Meer verdient! Passt auf, denn hier werden gerne Taschen geklaut oder aber auch Drogen verkauft.

Erholt? Na dann auf in die historische Altstadt Alfama. Folgt einfach den Schildern zu Castelo de São Jorge und genießt unterwegs den portugiesischen Flair! Nicht vergessen an einem der zahlreichen Miradouros, Aussichtspunkte, anzuhalten und den Blick über Lissabon genießen!

Oben angekommen habt ihr euch erstmal einen “Wine with a view“ verdient! Eine der coolsten Erfindungen, die mir auf meinen Reisen passiert ist. Eine mobile Wein Bar, die fast an jedem Hotspot steht!

Wer jetzt langsam Hunger und weiteren Durst bekommt, steigt wieder ab zum Rossio und nimmt entweder von hier den historischen Fahrstuhl Elevador de Santa Justa ins Bairro Alto oder geht ganz einfach die paar Treppen zu Fuß oder mit der Tram. Hier tobt am Wochenende Lissabons Nachtleben und auch unter der Woche findet ihr zahlreiche kleine Lokale mit Blick auf die Stadt oder in einer kleinen gemütlichen Gasse!

Day 2: Sweeten up your trip!

On the second day we wanted to quickly admire Lisbon from above before our departure and so, went quickly to the Eduardo VII Park. It is truly just a 5 minutes’ walk from the Hotel PortoBay Marques.

Having covered many kilometers on the first day, we earned an UBER ride to Belém today. But you can also go to Belém using the famous Tram 28. Why Belém?

Here you can get Pastéis de Belém the most delicious and traditional cream cake in Lisbon. Next door, there is also a Starbucks coffee for every Starbucks lover.

From here, you pass the Monastery of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos to the UNESCO World Heritage Torre de Belém, which used to guard the harbor entrance.

On the promenade, you can get at several stands a delicious snack and of course again a “Wine with a view”.

Lastly, if you’re already in Belém, you’ll need to complete your day with a sunset cruise. Not only the skipper was a real eye-catcher, but also to explore Lisbon from the water, is truly a dream. You get a very different view of the third longest suspension bridge in the world, Ponte 25 de Abril, and the city, built on seven hills.

Am 2. Tag wollten wir vor unserer Abfahrt nochmal schnell Lissabon von oben bewundern und sind schnell zu dem Park Eduardo VII gegangen. Er ist wahrhaftig nur 5 Gehminuten vom Hotel Portobay Marques entfernt.

Nachdem wir am ersten Tag zahlreiche Kilometer hinter uns gelegt haben, haben wir uns heute ein UBER nach Belém verdient. Jedoch könnt ihr auch mit der berühmten Tram 28 nach Belém fahren. Warum nach Belém?

Hier bekommt ihr bei Pastéis de Belém die leckersten und traditionellsten Sahnetörtchen in Lissabon. Nebenan gibt es auch für jeden Starbucksliebhaber einen Starbucks Kaffee dazu.

Von hier aus geht es vorbei an dem Kloster Mosteiro dos Jerónimos zu dem UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe Torre de Belém, von dem früher die Hafeneinfahrt bewacht wurde.

An der Promenade bekommt ihr an mehreren Ständen einen leckeren Snack und natürlich auch wieder einen „Wine with a view“.

Zu guter Letzt müsst ihr euren Tag aber mit einer Sunset Cruise abschließen, wenn ihr schon in Belém seid. Nicht nur der Skipper war ein echter Augenschmaus, sondern auch Lissabon vom Wasser aus zu erkunden! Man bekommt nochmal einen ganz anderen Blick auf die drittlängste Hängebrücke der Welt, Ponte 25 de Abril, und die Stadt, die auf sieben Hügeln gebaut ist.

Day 3 – Sintra – The Portuguese Disneyland

Everyone we met in Lisbon told us about Sintra and, of course, we went to the little village outside with great expectations. My only recommendation is that you should not drive there by a car, instead, book a tour. That way you save some time instead of wasting it on searching for a parking space. You are also led out directly in front of the sights this way.

Since we did not have much time left on our last day in Lisbon, we just went to see the Palácio Nacional da Pena in more detail and I have to say it was worth it. The picturesque palace is truly like you are in a Disneyland and in addition, it is a great photo spot. However, you should be there for a good picture before its 10’o clock.

At the end when one admires the view from one of the terraces and takes a deep breath, one knows that one will return to Lisbon.

Jeden, den wir in Lissabon getroffen haben, hat uns von Sintra vorgeschwärmt und so sind wir natürlich mit hohen Erwartungen zu dem kleinen außerhalb gelegenen Dorf gefahren. Ich kann euch nur empfehlen nicht selbst mit dem Auto zu fahren, sondern eine Tour zu buchen! So spart ihr euch die Suche nach einem Parkplatz und werdet direkt vor den Sehenswürdigkeiten rausgelassen!

Da wir an unserem letzten Tag in Lissabon nicht mehr viel Zeit hatten, haben wir nur den Palácio Nacional da Pena ausführlicher besichtigt und ich muss sagen, dass es sich gelohnt hat! Der malerische Palast ist wahrhaftig wie in einem Disneyland und zusätzlich noch ein super Fotospot! Allerdings solltet ihr für ein gutes Bild vor 10 Uhr da sein!

Spätestens wenn man den Ausblick von einer der Terrassen bestaunt und tief einatmet, weiß man, dass man nach Lissabon zurückkehren wird!

How to spend 48 unforgettable hours on Ibiza

Es gibt nur eine Insel, die für unbeschreibliche Nächte und ihre Beach Clubs an den traumhaften Stränden bekannt ist. Genau! Ich spreche von Ibiza! In der Vergangenheit war ich schon mal während der Sommermonate auf Ibiza und das kann ich euch leider gar nicht empfehlen! Aber ab Mitte April bis Mitte Juni lässt es sich auf der Insel gut aushalten oder aber auch Ende September bis zu den Herbstferien.

Solltet ihr also nur 48 Stunden Zeit haben, empfehle ich euch eure Zeit so sinnvoll wie möglich zu nutzen!

There is only one island known for indescribable nights and its beach clubs on the beautiful beaches. Well, I’m talking about Ibiza! In the past, I was already in Ibiza during the summer months and unfortunately, I cannot recommend you to go there during the main season! But from mid-April to mid-June, it is very calm on the island or end of September to the autumn holidays.

If you only have 48 hours, I recommend you to use your time as meaningfully as possible!

Where to stay?

Wir sind Freitagabend ziemlich spät gelandet und waren froh, dass Ibiza Sun Apartments nur 5 Minuten mit dem Auto vom Flughafen entfernt sind! Wir haben uns einen Nissan Qashqai für nur 15€ für das ganze Wochenende bei Centauro gemietet! Vorsicht, wenn ihr nach 23 Uhr ankommt, müsst ihr eine Gebühr in Höhe von 40€ bezahlen. Allerdings war der Service ansonsten einwandfrei und es gab keine versteckten Kosten. Da ich den Wagen über eine Online Plattform gemietet habe, war sogar noch ein Rundumschutz dabei.

Zurück zur Unterkunft! Ich war dankbar, dass wir nach unserer Landung fast direkt ins Bett fallen konnten. Die Apartments haben nicht ohne Grund eine Bewertung in Höhe von 9,1 Punkten bei Booking bekommen. Schon bei der Ankunft roch es in der Lobby so unheimlich frisch und nach Urlaub. Die ganze Anlage inkl. der Zimmer ist so sauber, dass man vom Boden essen kann! Wer möchte darf natürlich auch die voll ausgestattete Küche in seinem Apartment benutzen. Wir konnten von unserem Balkon aus direkt auf den Pool und die wunderschönen Liegen schauen! Nach einem anstrengenden Tag in der Sonne, solltet ihr euch eine Massage gönnen! Ich bin schon lange nicht mehr so feste, aber auch so gut massiert worden!

Wenn ihr gerne 48 Stunden im Hotel bleiben möchtet, ist das auch kein Problem! Nach einem umfangreichen Frühstück legt ihr euch einfach auf die Liege, genießt die Lounge Musik und abends geht es dann ins Sun Thai Restaurant.

We arrived late during the night and were glad that Ibiza Sun Apartments are only 5 minutes drive from the airport. We rented a Nissan Qashqai for only €15 for the whole weekend at Centauro. Be careful! If you arrive after 11 pm, you’ll need to pay a fee of €40. However, the service was otherwise impeccable and there were no hidden costs. Since I rented the car via an online platform, there was even an all-around protection.

Back to the accommodation, I was grateful that we could almost fall directly into bed after landing. The apartments have a good rating of 9.1 points on booking.com. On arrival, the smell in the lobby was so fresh and sweet after vacation. The whole area including the rooms was so clean, that you can eat from the floor. Of course, you can also use the fully equipped kitchen in your apartment. We could see directly from our balcony the pool and the beautiful beach chairs.

After a hard day in the sun, you can treat yourself to a massage. I have not been so strong for a long time, but have been massaged so well!

If you would like to stay in the hotel for 48 hours, that’s no problem. After an extensive breakfast, just lie down on the lounger, enjoy the lounge music, and in the evening, head to the Sun Thai Restaurant.

What to do?

Das Giri Café auf Ibiza hat nicht ohne Grund nur positive Bewertungen. Es ist eine absolute Wohlfühloase, egal ob man bei Regen drinnen sitzt oder draußen bei Sonnenschein! Das Frühstück ist ein absolutes Geschmackserlebnis! Man bekommt alles, was total angesagt ist! Von Avocado Brot, über Chia Pudding und Pancakes bis zu Porridge oder Egg Benedict! Ihr solltet auf jeden Fall vorbeischauen!
Unter der Woche könnt ihr super schöne Accessoires oder schicke weiße Kleider auf den Hippiemärkten kaufen! Da wir am Wochenende auf Ibiza waren, haben wir fleißig in der wunderschönen Altstadt eingekauft! D’Alt Vila ist sowieso ein MUSS für jeden, der nach Ibiza kommt. Zieht euch feste Schuhe an und schlendert die kleinen herrlichen Gassen nach oben! Von dort aus habt ihr eine überwältigende Aussicht über Ibiza.
Wir haben unseren ganzen Sonntag im Maya Beach Club in Cala Vadella verbracht. Ein Traum! Von unserem Strandbett aus konnte ich das himmlische türkise Wasser mit meinem frischen Smoothie in der Hand beobachten und den ganzen Tag in der Sonne träumen. Es hat uns wirklich an nichts gefehlt und bevor wir überhaupt etwas sagen konnten, war schon einer der überaus freundlichen Kellner da, um uns eine Erfrischung zu bringen. In der stylischen Location kann man nicht nur den ganzen Tag in der Sonne liegen, sondern sich auch direkt mit Meerblick das Ja-Wort geben!

The Giri Café in Ibiza is an absolute oasis of well-being, it doesn’t matter if you are sitting inside or outside during sunshine. The breakfast is an absolute tasty experience! You get everything totally hot. From avocado bread, to chia pudding and pancakes with porridge or egg benedict. You should definitely drop by to enjoy!
During the week, you can buy super beautiful accessories or chic white dresses on the hippie markets. Since we were on a weekend in Ibiza, we diligently shopped in the beautiful old town. D’Alt Vila is a MUST for anyone who comes to Ibiza anyway. Put on sturdy shoes and stroll up the small, beautiful streets. From there, you have an overwhelming view of Ibiza.
We spent our whole Sunday at the Maya Beach Club in CalaVadella which was a dream. From our beach bed, I could watch the heavenly turquoise water with my fresh smoothie in my hand and dream all day in the sun. We really did not miss anything and before we could even say anything, one of the very friendly waiters was already there to bring us refreshment. In the stylish location, you can not only lie in the sun all day but also give the yes-word in front of the sea.

Nach einem langen Tag in der Sonne, bleibt der Hunger auch nicht aus! Zum Glück gibt es im Maya Beach Club auch ein italienisches Restaurant mit Meerblick & frischem Fisch! Das letzte Mal habe ich so leckeres und frisches Sushi in Tokyo gegessen! Der Lachsgeschmack war unglaublich! Ich habe mich gefragt, ob man das schmackhafte Sushi überhaupt noch toppen kann! Aber der Hummer hat daraufhin meine Frage mit einem absoluten „Ja“ beantwortet! Der Käsekuchen als Dessert rundete unser Abendessen vollkommen ab! Wir haben den Maya Beach Club erst verlassen, als er zu gemacht hat!

In der Nacht ging es mit Eurowings wieder von Ibiza nach Köln. Für ein Wochenende hat sich die Reise nach Ibiza absolut gelohnt!

After a long day in the sun, I always get very hungry.

Luckily, the Maya Beach Club also has an Italian restaurant with sea views & fresh fish. The last time I ate such delicious and fresh sushi was in Tokyo. The salmon taste was incredible! I was wondering if one could top that tasty sushi! But the lobster has then answered my question with an absolute “yes”! The cheesecake as a dessert rounded off our dinner completely! We did not leave the Maya Beach Club until it closed!

At night, we flew back from Ibiza to Cologne. For a weekend, the trip to Ibiza was absolutely worth it!

How to spend 7 days in Cape Town

Cape Town, Kapstadt, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

Alle haben mich davor gewarnt, dass ich innerhalb von 7 Tagen nicht alles in Kapstadt seen kann. ABER ich habe es geschafft! Wir haben in der kurzen Zeit alle Hauptattraktionen wie den Tafelberg, Lion’s Head oder Kap der guten Hoffnung gesehen. Damit auch ihr mit wenig Urlaubstagen viel sehen könnt, habe ich euch unser Programm zusammengestellt.

Everyone had warned me that I can’t possibly see everything in Cape Town within 7 days. But I did! In the short time, we have seen all the main attractions such as Table Mountain, Lion’s Head or Cape of Good Hope. , I have put together our program, so that you too can see a lot with just little vacation days.

Day 1

Ankunft gegen 12.30 Uhr im Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence im Center von Kapstadt. Ideal um an den ersten 2 Tagen die Stadt zu erkunden. Von unserem Zimmer aus konnte ich direkt den Tafelberg sehen, was mich etwas nervös gemacht hat, da ich so schnell wie möglich die Aussicht genießen wollte. Nach einem langen Flug bin ich schnell duschen gegangen, Koffer ausgepackt und schon ging es los! Nur wenige Gehminuten vom Hotel liegt das Viertel Bo-Kaap mit den vielen bunten Häusern. Abends sind wir mit dem Hotelshuttle an die Waterfront gefahren zum Shoppen & Essen! Hier empfehle ich euch für den ersten Besuch auf jeden Fall einen Willkommensdrink im Harbour House auf der Terrasse zu bestellen.

Arrival at 12.30 pm at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence in the center of Cape Town. This hotel is ideal for exploring the city on the first 2 days. From our room, I could directly see the Table Mountain, which made me a little nervous, because I wanted to enjoy the view from the top as soon as possible. After a long flight, I took a quick shower, unpacked my suitcases and off we went! Within a walking distance of the hotel is the Bo-Kaap district with its many colorful houses. In the evening, we went with the hotel shuttle to the waterfront to shop & eat. Here, I highly recommend you to order a welcome drink at the Harbor House on the terrace for your first visit.

Day 2

Nach dem leckeren Frühstück mit frisch gemachten Pancakes und Omelettes haben wir uns ganz schnell von unserem langen Flug erholt. Auf geht’s zum wunderschönen botanischen Garten, Kirstenbosch. Wir hatten uns dafür entschieden bei First Car Rental ein Auto zu mieten, damit wir flexibel unterwegs sind. Die Fahrt zum botanischen Garten ist schon ganz besonders! Die Umgebung ist bekannt als teuerstes Viertel in Kapstadt und die herumliegenden Häuser spiegeln es auch wieder. 🙂 Nach 2-3 Stunden wollten wir auch schon weiter zur nächsten Attraktion, dem Tafelberg. Geht ruhig nochmal etwas essen bevor ihr hochfahrt, denn es lohnt sich erst zur Abendsonne hochzufahren.

After a delicious breakfast with freshly made pancakes and omelets, we quickly recovered from our long flight.
We decided to hire a car from First Car Rental so we could be flexible and drive to the beautiful botanical garden, Kirstenbosch. The drive to the botanical garden is very special. The area is known as the most expensive district in Cape Town and the surrounding houses reflect it again. 🙂 After 2-3 hours, we wanted to continue to the next attraction, Table Mountain. Go back to eat something before you go up, because it’s worth to drive up to the evening sun.

Day 3

Nach 2 Tagen in der Stadt geht auf zum Meer. Wir haben im Peninsula All-Suite Hotel am Sea Point gewohnt. Der Ausblick aufs Meer ist natürlich gigantisch. In der Gegend findet ihr aber auch sehr preiswerte Bed & Breakfast Unterkünfte. Hier könnte ich zum Beispiel Villa Costa Rose empfehlen! Am dritten Tag sind wir vom Sea Point über Clifton an der Küste nach Camps Bay spaziert. In Camps Bay fiel mir sofort das Happy Hour Schild des Restaurants, The 41, auf! Sowohl der Burger mit Pommes, als auch die Cocktails waren spitze! Den Abend haben wir sehr romantisch an der Waterfront im Restaurant vom Silo Hotel ausklingen lassen.

After 2 days in the city, we went to the sea. We stayed at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel at Sea Point. The view of the sea is of course breathtaking. In the area, you will also find very reasonably priced bed & breakfast accommodations. Here, I could recommend for example; Villa Costa Rose! On the third day, we walked from Sea Point via Clifton on the coast to Camps Bay. At Camps Bay, I immediately noticed the happy hour sign from the restaurant, The 41! Both the burger with fries, as well as the cocktails was great! The evening was very romantic at the waterfront in the restaurant of Silo Hotel.

Day 4

Man muss sich im Urlaub ja mindestens 1x sportlich betätigen, deswegen haben wir uns dazu entschieden, am vierten Tag den Lion’s Head selbst zu besteigen. Nehmt ausreichend Wasser und Zucker mit! Die Gipfelbesteigung muss natürlich gefeiert werden und es gibt dafür keinen besseren Ort als das Weingut „Groot Constantina“! Gegen Abend haben wir noch bunte Küste in Muizenberg erkundet.

You have to be active on holiday at least 1x athletic, so we decided on the fourth day to climb the Lion’s Head itself. Hint; take enough water and sugar with you! The summit must be celebrated of course and there is no better place than the winery “Groot Constantina”! Towards evening, we explored the colorful coast in Muizenberg.

Day 5

Am fünften Tag müsst ihr früh aufstehen! Heute wird es ein langer Tag! Erst geht es über den Chapmans Peak Drive zum Noordhoek Beach. Hier legt ihr natürlich den ersten längeren Stopp ein! Wenn ihr euch erholt habt, fahrt ihr weiter zum Boulders Beach und schwimmt eine Runde mit den Pinguinen. Hier solltet ihr aber schon gegen halb vier oder vier wieder weiter zum Table Mountain Nationalpark fahren, da er zum Sonnenuntergang schließt und ihr die Paviane, Sträuße und das Kap der guten Hoffnung ja nicht verpassen möchtet. Nach so einem langen Tag kommt ihr auf dem Rückweg nach Kapstadt an einem sehr modernen und idyllischen Restaurant, The Hub Café, in Scarborough vorbei. Unbedingt anhalten!

On the fifth day you have to get up early, today will be a long day! First it goes over the Chapmans Peak Drive to Noordhoek Beach. Of course you make the first longer stop! When you have recovered, continue to Boulders Beach and swim a round with the penguins! Here, you should go back to the Table Mountain National Park at half past three or four, as it closes at sunset and you do not want to miss the baboons, bouquets and the Cape of Good Hope! After such a long day on the way back to Cape Town, you will pass Scarborough at a very modern and idyllic restaurant, The Hub Café. Be sure to stop by!

Day 6

Keine Sorge! Es wird noch besser! Um 10:30 Uhr ging es für uns nämlich hoch hinaus! Mit Cape Town Helicopters haben wir uns die Atlantikküste von oben angesehen. Den Rest des Tages haben wir in Clifton am Strand verbracht bis zu unserer Sunset Cruise mit Mirage von der Waterfront aus.

Do not worry! It gets even better! At 10:30 o’clock it was high for us! With Cape Town Helicopters we took a look at the Atlantic coast from the top. We spent the rest of the day in Clifton, on the beach until our sunset cruise with Mirage from the waterfront.

Day 7

Ihr könnt nicht nach Afrika fliegen ohne die Big 5 zu sehen! Also auf zur Aquila Safari!

You cannot fly to Africa without seeing the Big 5! So be part of the Aquila Safari!

Day 8

Da unser Flieger erst am Nachmittag zurückging, haben wir noch den halben Tag am Clifton Beach verbracht und unsere tolle Zeit in Südafrika Revue passieren lassen.

Since our plane did not return until the afternoon, we spent half the day at Clifton Beach and reviewed our great time in South Africa.

The colorful houses in Bo-Kaap lie inconspicuously at the foot of Signal Hill. They are one of the most popular photo spots for Instagramer, Photoshoots and Film Crews. Opposite you get in the Harvest Café delicious soft and warm drinks. In addition you will have a great view from the roof terrace on the colorful street (insider tip)!

Ganz unscheinbar liegen die bunten Häuser in Bo-Kaap zu Füßen des Signal Hills. Sie sind mit einer der beliebtesten Fotospots für Instagramer, Photoshoot und Film Crews. Gegenüber bekommt ihr in dem Harvest Café leckere Erfrischungsgetränke und zusätzlich einen tollen Blick von der Dachterrasse über die bunte Straße (Geheimtipp)!

Chapman’s Peak Drive & Noordhoeck Beach

The nine-kilometer coastal road leads directly to the most beautiful beach I have seen in a long time! The white eight-kilometer Noordhoeck Beach is just a dream! Since the beach is so big and unknown, you almost feel like you have everything for yourself. From time to time, horses pass by and are carried on a beach ride. If you want, you can take part in a ride at 9, 10 or 16 o’clock!

Die neun Kilometer lange Küstenstraße führt direkt zu dem schönsten Strand, den ich seit langem gesehen habe! Der weiße acht Kilometer lange Noordhoeck Beach ist einfach nur ein Traum! Da der Strand so groß und unbekannt ist, fühlt man sich fast als hätte man alles für sich. Ab und zu kommen Pferde vorbei, die für einen Strandritt ausgeführt werden. Wer möchte kann um 9, 10 oder 16 Uhr an einem Ausritt teilnehmen!

Boulders Beach

Most of you must have seen penguins at the zoo but at Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town they are really close! I recommend you to take the 2 entrance directly to the beach and climb over the stones from there, so you get close to the penguins and are far away from all the tourists.

Die meisten von euch werden Pinguine schon im Zoo gesehen haben, aber am Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town sind sie wirklich zum Greifen nah! Ich empfehle euch den 2. Eingang direkt zum Beach zu nehmen und von dort aus etwas über die Steine zu klettern, damit ihr ganz nah an die Pinguine dran kommt und weit weg von den ganzen Touristen seid.

Enjoy the view from Table Bay

In Cape Town you can see the city from almost every angle, whether from the air, from Table Mountain or even from a yacht! We booked the Sunset Cruise from Mirage one night and were by no means disappointed! The musical and culinary entertainment made us enjoy the Catamaran cruise very much! During the trip, we not only admired the city, but also the sea lions that swam next to us.

Wir haben an einem Abend die Sunset Cruise von Mirage gebucht und wurden auf keinen Fall enttäuscht! Die musikalische und kulinarische Unterhaltung hat uns die Katamaranfahrt sehr genießen lassen! Während der Fahrt haben wir nicht nur die Stadt bewundert, sondern auch die Seelöwen, die neben uns geschwommen sind.

Aquila Safari

When you’re in South Africa, it’s not enough just to see a sea lion! The BIG 5 are definitely a MUST! Of course, they are not seen in the city, but if you travel by shuttle or car 2 hours outside of Cape Town, you can find the Big 5 during a 3 hour jeep tour! Not only the Aquila Safari is worth it, but also the beautiful landscape during the 2 hour drive! However, do not stop at fake mishaps or street vendors!

Wenn man in Südafrika ist, reicht es nicht nur einen Seelöwen gesehen zu haben! Die BIG 5 sind auf jeden Fall ein MUSS! In der Stadt sind sie natürlich nicht zu sehen, aber wenn ihr mit dem Shuttle oder dem Auto 2 Stunden außerhalb von Kapstadt fahrt, könnt ihr während einer 3-stündigen Jeep Tour die Big 5 antreffen! Nicht nur die Safari lohnt sich, sondern auch die wunderschöne Landschaft während der 2-stündigen Fahrt! Haltet allerdings nicht bei vorgetäuschten Pannen oder Straßenhändlern an!

Find Cape Town’s highest Point

The landmark of Cape Town, Table Mountain, you have to visit in any case! From here you have a 360 ° view of Cape Town! It does not matter what time you go up, the view is always gigantic! BUT there should be no clouds or fog in the sky, otherwise you cannot see everything!

Das Wahrzeichen von Kapstadt, den Tafelberg, muss man auf jeden Fall besichtig haben! Von hier hat man einen 360° Blick auf Kapstadt! Es ist egal zu welcher Uhrzeit ihr hochfahrt, der Blick ist immer gigantisch! ABER es sollten keine Wolken bzw. Nebel am Himmel sein, ansonsten könnt ihr nicht alles sehen!

Get the absolute adrenaline kick

Those who are not yet ready for Table Mountain and who want to climb the top themselves, can get the absolute adrenaline kick on the Lion’s Head. Probably only I found it as exciting and thrilling but it always depends on how to deal with altitude and narrow roads. The feeling when you arrive at the top is indescribable! Do not forget to take enough water and sugar with you. You should not climb like us at over 30 °.

Wem der Tafelberg noch nicht reicht und wer selbst die Spitze besteigen möchte, kann sich den absoluten Adrenalinkick auf dem Lion’s Head holen. Wahrscheinlich empfand nur ich es als mega spannend und aufregend, aber es kommt immer drauf an, wie man mit Höhe und engen Wegen umgehen kann. Das Gefühl, wenn man oben angekommen ist, ist unbeschreiblich! Vergesst nicht ausreichend Wasser und Zucker mitzunehmen. Ihr solltet auch nicht wie wir bei über 30° hochklettern.

Helicopter ride

If you want to fly high, fly with Cape Town Helicopters along the Atlantic coast. Our pilot, Bryon, not only brought us back safely, but also told us a lot about the sights and places on the Atlantic coast. For example, where Lion’s Head got its name from. The name comes from the fact that the Lion’s Head looks like a lying lion from the sea.

Wer ganz hoch hinaus möchte, fliegt mit Cape Town Helicopters an der Atlantik Küste entlang. Unser Pilot, Bryon, hat uns nicht nur sicher zurückgebracht, sondern auch vieles über die Sehenswürdigkeiten und Orte an der Atlantikküste erzählt. Zum Beispiel woher Lion’s Head seinen Namen hat. Der Name kommt daher, dass der Lion’s Head für Schifffahrer vom Meer aus wie ein liegender Löwe aussieht.

Clifton Beach

For a beach day, you do not have to drive out of Cape Town! You can easily reach Clifton by bus, Uber, car or even on foot. There you can see the bays from the top and decide on one of the wonderful sandy beaches! Watch as the sun shines on the area’s most prestigious residential buildings and let your feet cool off in the cold Atlantic Ocean. If you get hungry, you just need to go one place further. On the promenade of Camps Bay there are numerous restaurants (with WIFI).

Für einen Strandtag müsst ihr aber nicht aus Kapstadt herausfahren! Ihr kommt mit dem Bus, Uber, Auto oder aber auch zu Fuß ganz einfach nach Clifton. Dort könnt ihr von oben aus schon die Buchten sehen und euch für eine der wundervollen Sandstrände entscheiden! Schaut euch an wie die Sonne auf die renommiertesten Wohngebäude der Gegend scheint und lasst dabei eure Füße im kalten Atlantik abkühlen. Solltet ihr Hunger bekommen, braucht ihr nur einen Ort weitergehen. An der Promenade von Camps Bay gibt es zahlreiche Restaurants (mit WIFI).

Table Mountain National Park

And suddenly a baboon stood on our car …. This is one of the many memorable moments I have from Table Mountain National Park. Luckily we had a rental car from First Car Rental and were able to explore every corner of the national park! Unfortunately, we only had 2 hours left but you can plan a whole day for your stay in the National Park! There are beautiful beaches to relax and other animals are waiting for you on every corner! Not to forget, of course, is the Cape of Good Hope, the southernmost point in Africa.

Und auf einmal Stand ein Pavian auf unserem Auto…. Das ist einer der zahlreichen und unvergesslichen Momente, die ich aus dem Table Mountain National Park habe. Wir hatten zum Glück einen Mietwagen von First Car Rental und konnten jede Ecke des Nationalparks selbst erkunden! Leider hatten wir nur noch 2 Stunden Zeit, aber ihr könnt für euren Aufenthalt im Nationalpark einen ganzen Tag einplanen! Es gibt wunderschöne Strände zum Entspannen und an jeder Ecke warten andere Tiere auf euch! Nicht zu vergessen ist natürlich das Kap der Guten Hoffnung, der südlichste Punkt in Afrika.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Almost every city has a botanical garden, I always think and I visit them rarely, but the botanical garden Kirstenbosch is anything but a botanical garden! Due to its enormous size everything goes on site and a large number of visitors come to relax and picnic on the green areas. My highlight was of course the bridge in the green with a view of Table Mountain.

Fast jede Stadt hat einen botanischen Garten, denke ich mir immer und ich besuche sie eigentlich auch nur selten, aber der botanische Garten Kirstenbosch ist alles andere als nur ein botanischer Garten! Aufgrund seiner enormen Größe verläuft sich alles vor Ort und eine Vielzahl der Besucher kommen auch nur, um sich auf den Grünflächen zu entspannen und zu picknicken. Mein Highlight war natürlich die Brücke im Grünen mit Blick auf den Tafelberg.

V&A Waterfront

Last but not least you should not forget to stroll along the waterfront. Best against dusk times! At the numerous restaurants, you will surely find a nice evening location or you just go shopping in the mall! For a quick appetite, I recommend the Food Market on the V & A Waterfront!

Zu guter Letzt dürft ihr natürlich nicht vergessen an der Waterfront entlang zu flanieren. Am besten gegen Dämmerungszeiten! Bei den zahlreichen Restaurants findet ihr mit Sicherheit eine nette Abendlocation oder ihr geht einfach in der Mall shoppen! Für den schnellen Hunger empfehle ich den Food Market an der V&A Waterfront!

Wine not?

The wineries in Cape Town and the surrounding area are not only suitable for wine lovers like me! At the Groot Constantia you can taste 5 wines for free, get a guided tour on site and can celebrate the vineyards for around 7€! Visiting a vineyard is not only a must for wine lovers!

Die Weingüter in Kapstadt und Umgebung sind nicht nur geeignet für Weinliebhaber wie mich! Für ca. 7€ kann man am Groot Constantia kostenlos 5 Weine probieren, bekommt eine Führung vor Ort und kann die Weinberge begehen! Der Besuch auf einem Weinberg ist nicht nur für Weinliebhaber ein Muss!

The dreamlike beauty of Abu Dhabi

My last summer trip for this year could not have ended better than with my mom and to Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi has so much to offer in terms of Arabic culture, beach life, and, of course, the desert! As always, I explored and tested the highlights of the capital of the United Arab Emirates for you. 😉 While we are already on the subject…

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The eighth largest mosque in the world and the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, since its opening in 2007, is a must for every visitor of Abu Dhabi. The entrance to the white marble and the peace is even free! You can wander for hours and admire the colorfully decorated walls and floors! Even if the women get an abaya on site, you should not arrive with a short dress or strapless.

Desert Safari

One of my highlights during my days in Abu Dhabi was our Desert Ride with Emirates Tour. Our driver picked us up in the afternoon in a white jeep at our hotel. Normally, you drive with six people in a jeep, but luckily, we booked a private tour. Hence, we could often stop and enjoy the crazy scenery of the desert. It was not that hot, so we could walk barefoot through the sand. Rachid, our driver, told us a lot about the Arabic culture and brought us to the camels in the evening, where we could enjoy the sunset with a traditional dinner. A desert tour can be compared with a roller coaster ride, so I recommend to anyone who prefers a quieter ride to hire a private driver; this way, you can also plan your departure time yourself and do not depend on the rest of the group.

Our paradise

As we all know, the best comes at the end: our stay at the Beach Rotana! It is hard for me after a few nice days to fly back home, but this time, I enjoyed the trip so much that I even had to say goodbye to our wonderful suite. It was not only the spaciousness and our balcony view but also the attentive, friendly and helpful staffs! I do not know where to start…. Best with the breakfast! 😉 In the morning, you can expect an extensive breakfast buffet with Arabic and European specialties. I’m a big fan of the freshly made smoothies and the fresh Bircher muesli! While writing about food, I can also tell you directly about all of my culinary highlights at Beach Rotana. The hotel has several restaurants and we were able to visit two.

The glamorous seafood restaurant, Finz, lies on the water and not only looks stylish but also offers fantastic fish and Moscow Mule. 😉 The decor and the location are so nice that you can only have a wonderful evening!
If you’re craving Italy, visit the restaurant, Prego’s! I can recommend the shrimp as an appetizer, the lasagne as the main course, and the dessert with Nutella! 😉 Do not forget a delicious white wine!
In all restaurants, you get an unbeatable service. The service is more than perfect and you feel like home!
Of course, you have to relax in the Zen Spa! Luckily, I had my massage on the last day, otherwise I would probably have gone every day to experience that special relaxed feeling after the massage.
After such a “strenuous” massage, I first had to relax in the pool with a cocktail. My first real “Pool Bar”! Top! If you still do not have enough, you can still get a delicious tart in the café and spoil the soul, or walk along the beach, or go shopping in the mall right next to the hotel!
It is true that “the moment guests step into the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, they will receive a unique blend of traditional Arabian hospitality and breathtakingly opulent luxury.”

Meine letzte Sommerreise für dieses Jahr hätte nicht besser enden können als mit meiner Mama und nach Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi hat so viel zu bieten in Bezug auf arabische Kultur, Strandleben und natürlich die Wüste! Wie immer habe ich für euch die Highlights der Hauptstadt der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate erkundet und getestet. 😉 Womit wir auch schon beim Thema sind…

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Die achtgrößte Moschee auf der Welt und die größte Moschee in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten ist, seit ihrer Eröffnung im Jahr 2007, ein MUSS für jeden Besucher in Abu Dhabi. Der Eintritt in den weißen Marmor und die Ruhe ist sogar umsonst! Man kann stundenlang umherwandern und die bunt verzierten Wände und Böden bestaunen! Auch wenn die Frauen eine Abaya vor Ort bekommen, sollte man nicht mit einem kurzen Kleid oder schulterfrei ankommen.

Desert Safari

Eines meiner Highlights während meiner Tage in Abu Dhabi war unsere Wüsten-Fahrt mit Emirates Tour. Unser Fahrer hat uns nachmittags in einem weißen Jeep an unserem Hotel abgeholt. Normalerweise fährt man zu sechst in einem Jeep, aber wir hatten glücklicherweise eine private Tour gebucht. So könnten wir öfters mal stoppen und die wahnsinnige Kulisse der Wüste genießen. Es war auch nicht so heiß, so dass wir barfuß durch den Sand laufen konnten. Rachid, unser Fahrer, hat uns viel über die arabische Kultur erzählt und uns am Abend zu den Kamelen gebracht, wo wir den Sonnenuntergang mit einem traditionellen Abendessen genießen konnten. Eine Wüsten Tour kann man mit Achterbahn fahren vergleichen, daher empfehle ich jedem, der lieber etwas ruhiger fährt, einen privaten Fahrer zu mieten. So könnt ihr auch eure Abfahrtszeit selbst planen und seid nicht von dem Rest der Gruppe abhängig.

Unser Paradies

Das Beste kommt ja bekanntlich zum Schluss: Unser Aufenthalt im Beach Rotana! Selten fällt es mir schwer nach ein paar schönen Tagen wieder nach Hause zu fliegen, aber dieses Mal habe ich die Reise so genossen, dass ich mich sogar von unserer traumhaften Suite verabschieden musste. Es lag nicht nur an der Geräumigkeit und unserem Balkonblick, sondern auch an dem aufmerksamen, freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Personal! Ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll…. Am besten mit dem Frühstück! 😉 Morgens erwartet euch ein umfangreiches Frühstücksbuffet mit arabischen und europäischen Spezialitäten. Ich bin ein großer Fan von den frischgemixten Smoothies und dem frischem Bircher Müsli! Wo ich gerade schon vom Essen schreibe, kann ich euch auch direkt von all meinen kulinarischen Highlights im Beach Rotana erzählen. Das Hotel verfügt über mehrere Restaurants und wir haben zwei besuchen können.

Das glamouröse Fischrestaurant Finz, liegt direkt auf dem Wasser und sieht nicht nur stylisch aus, sondern bietet auch einen fantastischen Fisch und Moscow Mule. 😉 Die Einrichtung und die Lage sind so schön, dass man hier nur einen wunderschönen Abend verbringen kann!

Wenn ihr Sehnsucht nach Italien habt, besucht das Restaurant Prego’s! Empfehlen kann ich euch die Garnelen als Vorspeise, die Lasagne als Hauptspeise und den Nachtisch mit Nutella! 😉 Vergesst dazu nicht einen leckeren Weißwein!

In allen Restaurants bekommt ihr einen unschlagbaren Service. Der Service ist mehr als perfekt und man fühlt sich auch noch wie Zuhause dabei!

Von dem ganzen Essen muss man sich natürlich auch im Zen Spa erholen! Zum Glück hatte ich meine Massage am letzten Tag, sonst wäre ich wahrscheinlich jeden Tag gegangen, um dieses besondere entspannte Gefühl nach der Massage zu erleben.

Nach so einer „anstrengenden“ Massage musste ich mich erstmal im Pool mit einem Cocktail erholen. Meine erste wirkliche „Pool Bar“! Top! Wer jetzt immer noch nicht genug hat, kann sich noch ein leckeres Törtchen im Café holen und die Seele verwöhnen, am Strand entlang spazieren oder in die direkt am Hotel gelegene Mall zum Shoppen gehen!

Es ist wirklich wahr, dass „in dem Moment, in dem Gäste das Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi betreten, sie von der einzigartigen Mischung aus traditioneller arabischer Gastfreundschaft und atemberaubend opulentem Luxus empfangen werden.“

In general, the Greek islands are all individual and with their own peculiarities. Did you know that there are about 3080 Greek islands? Santorini is not the largest island but one of the most famous. If I had to describe the island of Santorini in 3 words, I would immediately think of “sunset, beautiful and unique”. There is no place in the world that I can compare with Santorini. I have explored 8 insider tips for you so that you can experience the sunset alone.

Generell sind die griechischen Inseln alle individuell und mit ihren eigenen Besonderheiten. Wusstet ihr, dass es um die 3080 griechischen Inseln gibt? Santorini ist zwar nicht die größte Insel, aber einer der bekanntesten. Wenn ich die Insel Santorini in 3 Worten beschreiben müsste, würde mir auf Anhieb “Sonnenuntergang, wunderschön und einzigartig” einfallen. Es gibt keinen Ort auf der Welt, den ich mit Santorini vergleichen kann. Ich habe für euch extra 10 Geheimtipps erkundet, damit ihr den Sonnenuntergang zum Beispiel alleine erleben könnt.

Hire a quad and drive around the island
- There is nothing more pleasant than to blow your hair through the wind in warm / hot weather and explore the places you cannot explore by bus! Above all, you can hold on every corner and take pictures! Surprisingly, a quad costs only around 20 € per day and you can rent it at any corner!
- Es gibt nichts angenehmeres als bei warmen/heißem Wetter seine Haare durch den Wind wehen zu lassen (allerdings hat man danach keine Frisur mehr 🙂 ) und die Orte zu erkunden, die du mit dem Bus nicht erkunden kannst! Vor allem, kannst du an jeder Ecke halten und Bilder machen! Erstaunlicherweise kostet ein Quad auch nur um die 20 € pro Tag! Ihr könnt sie an jeder Ecke mieten!
Wander from Fira to Oia
- One of the best things I’ve ever done is the walking the trail from Fira to Oia. In any case, take water with you! After a one hour walk, you find only one kiosk where you can buy something, but you can see the most beautiful buildings and views of Fira, Oia and other islands during the trail. If you are lucky, you sometimes meet other people (depending on the season).
- Einer der besten Dinge, die ich jemals gemacht habe, ist die Wanderroute von Fira nach Oia. Nehmt euch auf jeden Fall etwas zu trinken mit! Auf der Route kommt nach der ersten Stunde nur ein Kiosk, wo ihr euch nochmal etwas kaufen könnt, aber ansonsten seht ihr nur wunderschöne Gebäude und Ausblicke auf Fira, Oia und andere Inseln. Wenn ihr Glück habt, trefft ihr auch manchmal auf weitere Wanderlustige (je nach der Jahreszeit).
Experience a real dinner with a view
- My tip is to enjoy the sunset during a romantic dinner in the restaurant “Athenian House”. We did this for the first time and were not only impressed by the food, but also by the location. The staff is incredibly friendly and if it is too windy, you can also sit in the cozy Cave House.
- Mein Tipp ist, den Sonnenuntergang während eines romantischen Abendessens in dem Restaurant „Athenian House“ zu genießen. Wir haben dies zum ersten Mal gemacht und waren nicht nur vom Essen total begeistert, sondern auch von der Location! Das Personal ist unheimlich freundlich und wenn es euch draußen zu windig ist, könnt ihr euch auch in das gemütliche Cave House setzen.
  
  Santorini

- I believe the sunset in Santorini is one of the most famous sunsets. For this reason, the main avenues in Oia and Fira are always crowded at this time. Then go in the direction of the restaurant Athenian House and enjoy the sunset from here. Here is always a quiet point.
- Ich glaube, dass der Sonnenuntergang in Santorini einer der bekanntesten Sonnenuntergänge ist. Genau aus diesem Grund sind die Hauptgassen in Oia und Fira zu dieser Zeit immer überfüllt! Dann geht trotzdem in Richtung des Restaurants Athenian House und genießt den Sonnenuntergang von hier. Hier findet sich immer ein ruhiger Punkt!
Take the best pictures
- For special pictures, you must either get up early if you do not want to do anything forbidden or you simply climb the white roofs at any time of the day. Be careful, of course, but you will get the best pictures because an empty alley is rare.
- Für besondere Bilder müsst ihr entweder früh aufstehen, wenn ihr nichts Verbotenes machen wollt, oder ihr klettert einfach zu jeder Tageszeit auf die weißen Dächer. Seid natürlich vorsichtig, aber so bekommt ihr die besten Bilder, denn eine leere Gasse findet ihr selten.
Stay in the middle of Fira
- The best accommodations in Santorini have a sea view and are directly on the slope. However, the cheap hotels can often be fast-boiled and the rest is then quite expensive … Therefore, I recommend you to stay at the Loizos Apartment Hotel . It is right in the middle and it offers a very tasty and extensive breakfast and even has its own pool to cool off.
- Die besten Unterkünfte in Santorini haben natürlich Meerblick und sind direkt am Hang. Allerdings können die preiswerten Hotels oft schnell ausgebucht sein und der Rest ist dann ziemlich teuer… Deswegen empfehle ich euch im Loizos Apartment Hotel zu übernachten. Es ist mittendrin, bietet ein sehr leckeres und umfangreiches Frühstück an und hat sogar einen eigenen Pool zum Abkühlen.
Cruise around the islands
- The ferries to the other islands are so much fun! You can sunbathe on the deck, enjoy free Wi-Fi and just be somewhere in nowhere. Everything around you is blue! I booked my ferry with Seatjets . The sooner you book, the cheaper it is.
- Die Fährenfahrten zu den anderen Inseln machen so viel Spaß! Ihr könnt euch auf dem Deck sonnen, kostenloses WLAN genießen und seid einfach irgendwo im nirgendwo. Alles um euch ist blau! Meine Fähre habe ich mit Seatjets gebucht. Je früher ihr bucht, desto preiswerter ist es!

- Pictures with the donkeys are much sought after, but they are usually found only on the way to the city from the old harbor. I was fortunate enough to meet this island in the middle of Fira. You often hear them with the little bells they carry, then you should quickly hold your camera ready!
- Bilder mit den Eseln sind heiß begehrt, aber man findet sie meistens nur auf dem Weg vom alten Hafen hoch in die Stadt. Ich hatte Glück, dass mir diese Esel mitten in Fira entgegenkam. Ihr hört sie oft an den kleinen Glöckchen, die sie tragen. Dann solltet ihr schnell eure Kamera bereithalten!
