De Wever Lodge – Design Cabin mitten im Nationalpark Hoge Veluwe

The cozy De Wever Lodge is located on the outskirts of Otterlo, right next to the Dutch National Park Hoge Veluwe. This special place welcomes its guests in a family atmosphere with 14 rooms, two cottages and a cabin in the forest. Waking up with the chirping of the birds and being right in nature provides the necessary peace and quiet during a break in this great accommodation. De Wever Lodge is just as suitable for couples as it is for families. Thanks to the quiet location, children traveling with you can play in the fresh air without worrying, while their parents sit together in the garden or on the terrace over a coffee. Nevertheless, there are numerous possibilities for exciting activities in the vicinity of the lodge, which make the eyes of the little ones shine.

Gemütlich wohnen bei De Wever

All accommodation options at De Wever Lodge are comfortable and cosily furnished, so that every guest immediately feels at home. The room variants and the two cottages on the site are particularly extensively equipped. These can be booked in addition to the 14 rooms in the main building. They provide additional privacy, since this type of accommodation is not in the middle of the other guest rooms. Newly renovated with modern facilities, a large king-size bed and a private terrace, the cottages have everything you need for a relaxing family holiday.

The cabin in the forest is a bit more economical, but still cosy. With two separate rooms, it is perfect for larger families. Waking up in the middle of nature, sitting outside undisturbed and, with a bit of luck, observing the native animals is a very special experience.

Ausflugsmöglichkeiten in der Umgebung

The national park at De Wever Lodge is an ideal excursion destination in the immediate vicinity and is perfect when the sun is shining. There is an unbelievable natural diversity to discover on 5,400 hectares. In the moors, along the lakes, in the various forests and on the fields of the park, moufflons, deer, wild boars and many other wild animals live. To go on a little exploration tour, lodge guests can use the 1,800 freely available white bicycles in the national park. Around 40 kilometers of cycle paths are available to explore the area extensively. Alternatively, the local forest rangers love to go on guided hikes and show you the special features of the park. Children’s safaris are also possible, where you can even spend the night under the starry sky. Anyone interested in art and culture should not miss the Kröller-Müller Museum in the national park. In addition to a great sculpture park, it also contains many works by Van Gogh.

A visit to Burgers’ Zoo, less than 20 kilometers away, is extremely worthwhile. Exciting animals such as Sumatran tigers, water monitors, aardvarks and gorillas await visitors there. For younger guests, the adventure land in the zoo in the form of a large playground is another highlight. Since the play area is divided for the smallest and larger children, each child can play age-appropriately while the parents treat themselves to a little break with coffee and cake.

Activities in the immediate vicinity

For those interested in exploring the area surrounding Baayvillas, there are several options. Five times a day there is a ferry to the Wadden Island Schiermonnikoog, which is unspoilt and offers beautiful walks in the habitat of the diverse bird life. Nature lovers also get their money’s worth during mudflat walks in the Moddergat mudflats or interesting oyster walks. Not only are the oysters harvested and their living conditions explained, but they are also opened fresh on site and tasted.

At least as interesting is the Pieterburen Seal Centre – Europe’s largest hospital for seals and harbour seals. There, injured and weakened animals are taken in, nursed up and then, if they are strong enough, returned to their natural environment.

Guests who want to get a breath of city air or run some errands can visit the beautiful old towns of Groningen or Dokkum, an old fortified town.

Those travelling with children can visit a small playground within walking distance of only five minutes or take a trip to the covered DoeZoo. Experiencing with all the senses is a priority here: The little guests are allowed to get up close and personal with the animals. Kissing frogs, carrying snakes around their necks or stroking the cute skunks are guaranteed to make a visit to the zoo unforgettable. For nice-weather days, the Adventure Park Waddenfun is perfect. Whether it’s canoeing, climbing in the high ropes course, archery or laser games – action fans will get their money’s worth here. A WEEKEND LIKE A HOLIDAY AT THE SEA – It’s Friday evening. A sun-drenched weekend awaits me. When I close my eyes, I remember back to the fantastic days by the sea. I feel the soft sand under my feet. The fresh sea water ripples around my legs. The light summer dress blows in the salty breeze. Pure happiness flows through my body. I was especially impressed by the evening walks on the beach. People were bubbling with lightness. There was laughter and dancing. The love of pleasure, the love of being, was celebrated. The candlelight from the restaurants wrapped the whole ambience in an incredibly soothing atmosphere. It was pure inspiration.

This weekend, I’m whisking my girlfriends away from their everyday lives. Not only culinary, especially the ambience should spoil them. With the trendy Pottery collection Perlemor I take my loved ones on a journey to the magical beach. I stroll through the market and buy fresh fruits, vegetables and fragrant herbs. The wine is chilled. The scent of fresh bread wafts from my kitchen into the garden. The lanterns are wildly scattered on the table. Cool, fresh watermelon pieces lie in the sand-colored bowls. The crisp lettuce looks especially beautiful in the coral-colored bowls. Music plays from my boombox, the candles glow. My girls fall into my arms, beaming with joy. Paju Villa

Situated in a wonderfully beautiful location, the restaurant Paju Villa is located only about a 10 minutes’ drive from Tallinn’s center, and it is absolutely worth the short drive. If you do not have a rental car then just call an UBER for a memorable and romantic evening. The calm family atmosphere tempts you to enjoy a relaxing meal here. We also had the pleasure of securing a splendid place right next to the window with a view of the beautiful winter landscape. Both my fancy appetizer with the avocado and the main course with the sumptuous salmon were very delicious. Also make sure, not to forget to go home without dessert.

180 Degrees Restaurant

What a marvelous experience our evening at the restaurant 180 Degrees was. It was an exemplary culinary adventure. It all started with the warm welcome from the German chef Matthias Diether. The gourmet chef had already worked in many other, so desired restaurant kitchens such as the Ritz Carlton, Emirates Palace, and Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai. Undoubtedly, we were impressed by the location and the history of the restaurant immediately. From the lounge, we were led to our table next to an impressive open kitchen. Here the chef conjures sensational dishes with his collection of regional products. I usually do not drink red wine, but the wine accompaniment to our tasting menu was just more than perfect. We couldn’t resist ourselves and drove to the location once again the following day, so we could marvel at the modern new construction situated on the sea.

Kak’s Kokka

The wonderful, stylishly furnished Kaks Kokka restaurant is located just off the harbor and in front of the entrance to Tallinn’s Old Town. The cozy little restaurant immediately impressed me with its “instagramable” marble tables 😉 Also, our five-course menu was designed very creatively. The pleasant, cozy atmosphere, the super friendly staff, and the extremely great food with an excellent wine made us spend an unforgettable evening in the restaurant Kaks Kokka.

Rae Meierei

You’re currently in Tallinn’s Old Town and feeling a bit hungry? No problem, just have a look at the restaurant Rae Meierei. From time to time even goats run around in this modern, and rustic restaurant. We stopped by in the restaurant Rae Meierei just before our departure and were not disappointed at all. The reception was very warm and our food came very fast. In any case, their price-performance ratio is really good.

Paju Villa

Eine traumhaft schöne Location! Das Restaurant Paju Villa befindet sich nur ca. 10 Fahrminuten von Tallinn’s Zentrum und ist die kurze Fahrt absolut wert! Solltet ihr keinen Mietwagen haben, ruft euch einfach ein UBER für einen unvergesslichen und romantischen Abend wie Zuhause. Die familiäre Atmosphäre lädt zu einem entspannten Essen ein! Wir hatten auch noch einen legendären Platz direkt am Fenster mit Aussicht auf die wunderschöne Winterlandschaft. Sowohl meine ausgefallene Vorspeise mit Avocado oder der Hauptgang mit Lachs waren köstlich! Vergesst nicht ohne Nachtisch nach Hause zu gehen!

Was für ein Erlebnis! Unser Abend im Restaurant 180 Degrees war ein kulinarisches Abenteuer! Begonnen hat es mit der Begrüßung von dem deutschen Chefkoch Matthias Diether. Der Gourmetkoch hat schon die Küchen im Ritz Carlton, Emirates Palace und des Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai gemanagt. Dementsprechend waren wir schon von der Location und der Geschichte des Restaurants sofort beeindruckt! Von der Lounge aus wurden wir zu unserem Tisch neben einer beindruckenden offenen Küche geführt! Hier zaubert der Chefkoch mit seinem Team aus regionalen Produkten sensationelle Gerichte! Normalerweise trinke ich keinen Rotwein aber die Weinbegleitung zu unserem Tasting Menu war einfach mehr als perfekt! Wir sind extra nochmal am Folgetag zur Location gefahren, damit wir den modernen am Meer gelegenen Neubau bestaunen konnten!

Kaks Kokka

Das wunderbare, stilvoll eingerichtete Restaurant Kaks Kokka liegt direkt in der Nähe vom Hafen und vor dem Eingang von Tallinn’s Altstadt. Das gemütliche kleine Restaurant hat mich sofort mit den „instagramablen“ Marmortischen beeindruckt! 😉 Auch unser 5 Gang Menü wurde sehr kreativ gestaltet! Die angenehme, gemütlicher Atmosphäre, das super freundliche Personal und das außerordentlich tolle Essen mit einem ausgezeichnetem Wein haben uns einen unvergesslichen Abend im Restaurant Kaks Kokka verbringen lassen.

Ihr seid gerade in Tallinn’s Altstadt unterwegs und habt Hunger? Dann schaut doch mal in dem Restaurant Rae Meierei vorbei! Ab und zu laufen in dem modern, rustikalen Restaurant sogar Ziegen herum. Wir haben in dem Restaurant Rae Meierei noch kurz vor unserem Abflug vorbeigeschaut und wurden nicht enttäuscht! Der Empfang war direkt sehr herzlich und unser Essen kam sehr schnell! Hier stimmt auf jeden Fall das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!
