In Tel Aviv, the Israeli Berlin, you cannot only celebrate extensively, go shopping and admire the individual quarters with their flourishing art scene, but you can also relax on the beach and enjoy the sun. On our trip, we explored the city for 2 days and, of course, we also experienced 2 days in the sun on the beach before we headed to Jerusalem. It could not have been better! Because of the sea breezes, the heat is incredibly good, making it easier for visitors to explore the culturally diverse range of activities in Tel Aviv.
In Tel Aviv, dem israelischen Berlin, kann man nicht nur ausgiebig feiern, shoppen und die einzelnen Viertel mit ihrer blühende Kunstszene bestaunen, sondern auch am Strand entspannen und die Sonne genießen. Auf unserem Trip haben wir 2 Tage die Stadt erkundet und natürlich auch 2 Tage in der Sonne am Strand gelegen, bevor es nach Jerusalem ging. Es hätte nicht besser sein können! Aufgrund der Meeresbrise lässt sich auch die Hitze unheimlich gut aushalten und vereinfacht es jedem Besucher, das kulturell breitgefächerte Angebot in Tel Aviv zu erkunden.
Where to stay?
In the city, you should always live in the student quarter, Florentin. We have stayed at the Florentin house in Tel Aviv and we would always stay here again! Every morning I could make myself a coffee in the room and enjoy the view over Tel Aviv from our balcony. You have the city life right in front of you! On the street, you also find everything you need: restaurants, cafes, kiosk, supermarket, ice cream parlor, ATM, veterinarian, mobile phone shop and much more! In our room, we could easily have been four people since it was so large.
- In der Stadt solltet ihr auf jeden Fall im Studentenviertel Florentin wohnen. Wir haben im Florentin Haus in Tel Aviv gewohnt und ich würde immer wieder kommen! Jeden Morgen konnte ich mir erstmal im Zimmer einen Kaffee machen und auf unserem Balkon den Ausblick über Tel Aviv genießen. Man bekommt das Stadtleben hautnah mit! Auf der Straße befindet sich auch alles was man braucht: Restaurants, Cafés, Kiosk, Supermarkt, Eisdiele, ATM, Tierarzt, Handyladen und noch vieles mehr! In unserem Zimmer hätten wir locker zu viert wohnen können, da es so groß war.
Must Do’s in the city center:
- Visit Old Jaffa! In Jaffa, you should start at the Jaffa Clock Tower. From there, you can directly go to the port, which is surrounded by many restaurants. From the harbor, you can reach the old town with its many narrow streets from the stairs at the Retzif HaAliya HaShniya street and admire the artists’ studios. From here, you can also look over the “new” Tel Aviv! On your way out of the old town, you can stop at the famous flea market Shuk HaPishpishim.
- In the Carmel Market area of Tel Aviv are many famous shopping streets, such as the Sheinkin St., or the famous department store, Dizengoff Center.
- If you know and love the Chelsea market in New York, do not miss the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv.
- Unfortunately, the Observation Platform “Azrieli Observatory” was closed in the shopping center, Azrieli, but it is very close to Sarona Market and you should definitely see Tel Aviv from above!
- Visit Old Jaffa! In Jaffa solltet ihr am Jaffa Clock Tower beginnen. Von dort aus gelangt ihr direkt zum Hafen, der von vielen Restaurants umgeben ist. Vom Hafen aus könnt ihr über eine Treppe an der Retzif HaAliya HaShniya Str. in die Altstadt mit ihren vielen schmalen Gassen gelangen und die Ateliers der Künstler bewundern. Von hier aus könnt ihr auch über das „neue“ Tel Aviv schauen! Auf eurem Weg aus der Altstadt heraus, könnt ihr einen Stopp auf dem bekannten Flohmarkt Shuk HaPishpishim
- In der Gegend vom Carmel Market in Tel Aviv befinden sich ganz viele bekannte Einkaufsstraßen, wie z.B. die Sheinkin Str. oder aber auch das bekannte Kaufhaus, Dizengoff Center.
- Wer in New York den Chelsea Markt kennt und liebt, sollte auf keinen Fall den Sarona Market in Tel Aviv verpassen.
- Leider hatte die Observation Platform „Azrieli Observatory“ im Einkaufszentrum Azrieli geschlossen, aber es ist ganz in der Nähe vom Sarona Market und ihr solltet auf jeden Fall Tel Aviv von oben sehen!
At the beach…:
- Anyone who has explored the city should definitely spend a few days at the sea! It is worth it alone to watch all the surfers! I had the feeling that all meet at the sea, whether young or old, man or dog! It was totally relaxed and pleasant.
- Overnight, we stayed at the Sea Excecutives Suites right on Bograshov Beach. The hotel is located directly on the beach promenade, and in the evening or in the morning, you can observe the whole beach promenade from the balcony. The rooms and the location of the hotel is great! The staff at the front desk was unfortunately only at the departure very friendly and before that a bit short. But everyone can have a bad day. There was always complimentary coffee, water, and ice cream in the lobby. The breakfast was very good and the view from the roof terrace is gigantic! There is also a whirlpool! All sports enthusiasts can have fun in the gym!
- Wer die Stadt erkundet hat, sollte auf jeden Fall ein paar Tage am Meer verbringen! Es lohnt sich alleine nur um die ganzen Surfer zu beobachten! Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass sich am Meer alle treffen! Ob jung oder alt, Mensch oder Hund. Es war total entspannt und angenehm.
- Übernachtet haben wir in den Sea Excecutives Suites direkt am Bograshov Beach. Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Strandpromenade und abends bzw. morgens kann man die ganze Strandpromenade schon vom Balkon aus beobachten. Die Zimmer und die Lage des Hotels haben mir persönlich sehr gut gefallen! Das Personal an der Rezeption war leider nur bei der Abreise sehr freundlich und davor etwas kurz angebunden. Aber jeder kann mal einen schlechten Tag haben. Dafür gab es in der Lobby immer Kaffee, Wasser und Eis umsonst. Das Frühstück hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt & der Ausblick von der Dachterrasse ist gigantisch! Dort befindet sich auch ein Whirlpool! Alle Sportbegeisterten können sich im Fitnessbereich austoben!
Do’s & Don‘ts
- Do not buy a sim card at the airport! They are super expensive! I should pay for 7 days for 1GB about 50 €! In the city and also directly at the Florentin House, you get about 9GB for 30 days for about 20-25€ and if you can also cope with less, you can choose a cheaper tariff.
- Take a taxi from the airport to the city. The trip costs about 35 €.
- Do not take a taxi in the rush hour. It takes very long and will also be very expensive!
- Kauft euch auf keinen Fall eine Simkarte am Flughafen! Sie sind super teuer! Ich sollte für 7 Tage für 1GB ca. 50€ bezahlen! In der Stadt bzw. auch direkt am Florentin House bekommt ihr ca. 9GB für 30 Tage für ca. 20-25 Euro und wenn ihr auch mit weniger zurechtkommt, könnt ihr auch einen günstigeren Tarif wählen.
- Nehmt euch ein Taxi vom Flughafen in die Stadt. Die Fahrt kostet zwar ca. 35 €, aber wenn man sowieso zu zweit ist, spart man nur ca. 15€ und die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel kann ich nicht zu 100% empfehlen.
- Nehmt kein Taxi in der Rush Hour. Es dauert sehr lange und wird auch sehr teuer!
