Last weekend I had a slightly different weekend trip to Munich. The reason for this was the Bruno Mars concert which I was looking forward to many weeks before. On Friday night, my flight with Airberlin went to Munich. This time, I did not need a hotel because my best friend lives in Munich and therefore offered me the opportunity to stay with her.

Am vergangenen Wochenende hatte ich eine etwas andere Wochenendreise nach München. Der Grund hierfür war das Bruno Mars Konzert, auf das ich mich schon Wochen vorher riesig freute. Freitagabend ging mein Flug mit Airberlin nach München. Dieses Mal benötigte ich kein Hotel, da meine beste Freundin in München wohnt und sich daher die Gelegenheit bot, bei ihr zu übernachten.

We started Saturday morning with a generous breakfast at Miss Lilly’s which with a bright and modern equipment warmly welcomes her guests in the morning. We chose an extraordinary mix (Miss Lilly’s sporty sister, Miss Lilly’s sweet little brother and Miss Lilly’s big mama) and let us spoil you with the delicacies from pancakes with Nutella and banana, home made muesli with yoghurt and fruit, breadbasket, sausage, cheese and jam. There were freshly squeezed O-juice, Prosecco and hot drinks. So delicious!

Wir starteten den Samstagmorgen mit einem großzügigen Frühstück bei Miss Lilly’s, das mit einer hellen und modernen Ausstattung seine Gäste schon am Morgen herzlich begrüßt. Wir haben uns für eine außergewöhnliche Mischung entschieden (Miss Lilly’s sporty sister, Miss Lilly’s sweet little brother und Miss Lilly’s big mama) und ließen uns von den Köstlichkeiten verwöhnen, die u.a. aus Pfannkuchen mit Nutella und Banane, hausgemachtes Müsli mit Joghurt und Früchten, Brotkorb, Wurst, Käse und Marmelade bestand. Dazu gab es frisch gepressten O-Saft, Prosecco und Heißgetränke. Wir waren danach pappsatt und überglücklich!

After gaining our strength, we went to the flea market in Neuhausen. The  ‘‘Hofflohmarkt“ was under the motto “Discover Your Neighborhood” and invited the residents to organize a flea market on their own property, in the garden or courtyard. I love yard garden flea markets as they radiate a domestic atmosphere and the sellers are particularly cordial.

Nach unserer Stärkung gingen wir im Anschluss auf den Hofflohmarkt in Neuhausen. Der Hofflohmarkt stand unter dem Motto „Entdecke dein Viertel“ und lud die Bewohner dazu ein, einen Flohmarkt auf dem eigenen Grundstück, also dem Garten oder Hof, zu veranstalten. Ich liebe Hofflohmärkte, da sie eine heimische Atmosphäre ausstrahlen und die Verkäufer besonders herzlich sind.

The afternoon was spent in a lovely Brauhaus; the Löwengarten Munich was also where we ended the evening. In addition to beer, there was also a delicious Bavarian cuisine. The specialty here was that the fresh ingredients came from the region.

Den Nachmittag verbrachten wir in einem super Brauhaus, dem Löwengarten München, in dem wir auch den Abend haben ausklingen lassen. Hier gibt es neben Bier auch leckere bayrische Küche. Das Besondere hier ist, dass die frischen Zutaten aus der Region kommen. 

The highlight for which I had traveled to Munich was the Sunday before the Bruno Mars concert! About 20 minutes before the start, we arrived at the entrance of the Olympic Hall. We were able to move quickly into the hall after a short pocket check. I had bought stalls for the concert. What I did not know however was that in the Olympic Hall, there were also “standing up” standing places in addition to the main standing places in the interior, i.e in front of the stage. This I was not aware of but the folders had informed us about it when we wanted to enter the interior. With their help, we found our places very quickly. My initial fear that you could not see anything from “the top” was not true; the Olympic Stadium has a really suitable size for concerts and no matter where you sit or stand, the distance to the stage is never very far and you have a good view. In Cologne, on the other hand, you can not see the stage from many places. The hall was not so crowded and the view was really awesome! In addition to new songs from his current record, Bruno Mars also played many well-known hits such as: “Just The Way You Are”, “Grenade”, “Uptown Funk” and “Marry You”. The audience clapped and danced enthusiastically while they sang loudly, the feeling was really unique!

Das Highlight, wegen dem ich ja auch nach München gereist war, stand Sonntag bevor: das Bruno Mars Konzert! Etwa 20 Minuten vor Beginn kamen wir am Eingang der Olympiahalle an. Wir konnten nach kurzer Taschenkontrolle zügig in die Halle. Ich hatte Stehplatze für das Konzert gekauft. Was ich jedoch nicht wusste: In der Olympiahalle gibt es, neben den hauptsächlichen Stehplätzen im Innenraum, also vor der Bühne, auch Stehplätze „ganz oben“. Dies war mir nicht bewusst und die Ordner hatten uns darüber aufgeklärt, als wir in den Innenraum wollten. Mit deren Hilfe haben wir unsere Plätze jedoch sehr schnell gefunden. Meine anfängliche Angst, dass man von „ganz oben“ nichts sehen könnte, hatte sich Gottseidank nicht bewahrheitet: Die Olympiahalle hat eine wirklich passende Größe für Konzerte und egal auf welchem Platz man sitzt oder steht, die Entfernung zur Bühne ist nie sehr weit und man hat eine gute Sicht. In Köln dagegen kann man von vielen Plätzen aus nicht mehr gut zur Bühne sehen. Die Halle war nicht so voll und der Ausblick war wirklich genial! Neben neuen Liedern seiner aktuellen Platte, spielte Bruno Mars auch viele bekannte Hits, wie z. B. „Just The Way You Are“, „Grenade“, „Uptown Funk“ und „Marry You“. Die Zuschauer klatschten und tanzten begeistert mit, während sie lauthals mitsangen. Das Feeling war wirklich einmalig!

Unfortunately it did not go so well on Monday morning. Actually my flight should go back to Cologne at 6 o’clock in the morning. However, I received an email at 3:15 a.m that my flight was canceled. Then I took a taxi that took me directly to the main station so I could go back to Cologne by train because I had an appointment for 10 o’clock. I was so happy that I  got to Cologne by 9:45 a.m and did not arrive late for my appointment.

Leider ging es am Montagmorgen nicht so gut weiter. Eigentlich sollte mein Flug zurück nach Köln um 6 Uhr morgens gehen. Ich erhielt jedoch eine E-Mail um 3:15 Uhr, dass mein Flug gestrichen wurde. Daraufhin nahm ich mir ein Taxi, das mich direkt zum Hauptbahnhof brachte, so dass ich mit der Bahn zurück nach Köln fahren konnte, weil ich bereits um 10 Uhr einen Termin hatte. Ich war überglücklich, dass ich gerade noch rechtzeitig um 9:45 Uhr in Köln ankam und nicht zu spät zu meinem Termin kam. Nichtsdestotrotz war dieser kleine, aber feine Wochenendtrip ein tolles Erlebnis!
