Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide

New York, Fasten Ur Seatbelts

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Santa Claus is right on the doorstep 😉 But wait, are you still looking for a unique Christmas present and can’t make it to the city or order something? No problem! With this gift, you can definitely surprise your loved one, and they will, for sure, not forget Christmas this year.

Did you know that you can now fly directly to New York from all major German airports for less than 300€ (return flight)? For this unique surprise, you have to do the following steps!

  • Open the page Google Flights, enter your departure airport, and don’t forget the destination: New York. Then you can choose the travel period. The date display shows you directly when it is cheapest. I recommend flying for 4-5 days. For example, from Wednesday/Thursday to Sunday. So you don’t need to take so many holidays.
  • Flights booked? First, take a deep breath and be happy!!! Because it goes straight to New York!
  • Don’t forget your ESTA visa. It takes about 5 minutes online, and you’d need it for the entry.
  • Now you probably need a place to stay. I usually always book via Booking.com. It is important that you live in Manhattan. This will save you transportation costs. It is also not necessarily more expensive. You just have to find the offers on Booking. You can also check out holiday pirates or holiday gurus. They always pick out hotels that often have offers. You will pay about 350€-650€ for a double room for 2 persons in a 3 or 4-star hotel. More expensive options are, of course, always available. The NoMad Hotels often have special offers or the Hyatt Hotel on Times Square.
  • Now you already have a flight and a hotel. All you only need are tickets for Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building. New York is not a cheap city, and, therefore, you should be well prepared.
  • How you can save time & money? Just get your New York Pass from Attraction Tickets Direct. The Pass gives you access to over 100 top New York attractions. You get the tickets directly to your smartphone, and at many attractions, you have a fast track ticket and don’t have to queue. All the famous attractions are covered by the ticket. I also ordered it before one of my New York trips.
    • Some attractions included are:
      • Top of the Rock
      • Empire State Building
      • Statue of Liberty
      • Madame Tussauds
      • MoMa
      • NBC Studio Tour and much more!
  • After about 30 minutes, you will have booked your unforgettable Christmas present. Now you only have to wrap it. At Pinterest, you can even find instructions on how to make flight tickets, for example. Or get a nice card and be creative!

I wish you a Merry Christmas & a good trip!

13 Instagrammable Places in New York City

New York City, New York, Manhattan, Soho

Anyone who has been to New York knows that the city stands unparalleled in its magnificence. It was my fifth visit this time in New York, and as soon as I had left the airport for the city, I right away felt the NYC vibes. You know what I mean, right? A Starbucks’ mug in hand, gym clothes draped on and you almost feel like a local. 😉

There is hardly a corner that will not surprise you there, and you should definitely stick with his smartphone or his camera for Instagram or even private purposes.

For you I have summarized the best spots, which are as follows:

Parks

Although New York gives the impression that the city only consists of skyscrapers, you will often find a quiet park that invites you to linger.

Central Park

Central Park is probably the most famous and largest park in the center of Manhattan. Here you’ll find countless opportunities for a great picture. I am always happy to see the squirrels and treat myself to a giant pretzel at the entrance to the park. My pictures were taken right at the entrance to Central Park near the Apple Store.

Bryant Park

Bryant Park is located directly between 5th and 6th Avenue. It first caught my eye this time around as it was so close to our hotel, Hyatt Times Square New York. The bustle on the most famous avenue can surely cause you to move around a bit haphazardly. Many come here for a picnic or just to enjoy the tranquility. You cannot miss seeing this place in my picture.

High Lane Park

High Lane Park is just 2.33km long and was known as GĂŒterzuggasse. The High Line always leads me to one of my favorite places in New York, the Chelsea Market. Just before the Chelsea Market, my picture was taken on the High Line. But you can always find interesting city spots if you get a view of the long streets.

Bars

There are probably thousands you can find here. I’m a huge fan of bars with a gigantic view and guess what? I also found these for you.

Bar SixtyFive

A must visit if you are in New York is Bar SixtyFive. Once you know you’re flying to New York, do not forget to reserve a seat there in advance. It is almost always fully booked. No wonder, as it is just one floor below Rockefeller Center observation deck. Instead of paying admission, treat yourself to a delicious wine or cocktail and are, for sure, to get amazed.

Bar 54

I visited Bar54 for the first time since it was our hotel bar from Hyatt Times Square New York. It was never crowded, and the view was simply unique. Located in Times Square, you can enjoy the view of the Empire State Building on the lounge furniture with a cocktail in your hand. Through the glass wall, you also have a good view of what is happening right below you. South, of course, you can also see the One World Trade Center and even gaze towards New Jersey.

Restaurants / Cafés:

Again, there are countless options here too, but these three have been very well-suited for my Instagram feed 😉

Eataly NYC Flatiron

If you love pink, Aperol, flowers and Italian food, you should not miss the Eataly at the Flatiron. Nobody had their cell phones in pockets, and so I did not feel ashamed doing my favorite pastime (taking pictures, of course), because everything is photographed here and that too with delicious drinks and Italian delicacies.

The Usual

The Usual has recently started offering only breakfast in Soho and is therefore still an unknown spot. While you get your breakfast, you sit in the middle of the painted streets of Soho and experience the New York feeling of being alive. (The Usual does not have a cappuccino or latte macchiato!)

Pietro Nolita

Everything is pink here! Really everything, inside or outside.

Streets:

Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village, the neighborhood in the west of Manhattan would surely be my home if I were to pick someplace in New York. It reminds me of a village rather than the city with the skyscrapers. Every corner between the brownstones is worth a photo.

DUMBO

Dumbo the Brooklyn neighborhood not only offers a great view of Manhattan but also invites you to take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

SOHO

The Soho district has for me the best shopping streets and cafes in a small space. By the way, almost every street offers a street-style picture. A little insider tip for a quick snack is the beautiful supermarket “Dean & DeLuca.”

Flatiron

Flatiron, also known as one of New York’s landmarks, definitely should belong in your feed. I recommend you go in the morning as it is still very empty in the corner. Directly in front of the Flatiron Building, you will also find the famous and photogenic Madison Square Park. We sat secretly in the park in the dog section and played with the dogs because we have missed ours so much. That’s how we quickly got to know the locals!

Hotel

Hyatt Centric Times Square

Even our Hyatt Centric Times Square hotel, which, as the name implies, is right on Times Square, has countless nooks and crannies. Already the Times Square is worth a thousand pictures. Since we lived right in Times Square, we were already out around 7 o‘ clock and took great pictures where nothing was going on. Even at night, it is very empty. You could even go out in your pyjamas quickly for a look at the most famous intersection.

Generally, you can visit all the sights from here on foot. We were in Soho within 40 minutes, passing the Flatiron, Washington Square Park and many other attractions. 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center and Central Park are all within walking distance.

The Hyatt is not only great because of its location, but also for its view from the rooms. One morning I got up especially at 4 am, 5 am and then 6 pm to watch the wonderful sunrise. Even out of the shower, you can see everything through the window. In the evening, I recommend you to make a detour to the hotel bar 54. Again, nothing is missing. We had breakfast at Starbucks right across the street, and our last night we could not have ended better than in the hotel restaurant.

NYC Guide – Chelsea & Lower Manhattan

New York, Chelsea, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, City Guide

New York, Chelsea, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, City Guide

Already in my last blog post, I wrote about the exciting attraction in Mid-Town Manhattan. Of course, New York has more to offer than just the “main tourist attractions”! During our last days in New York, we mainly stayed in Chelsea and Lower Manhattan, and of course, I found out a few insider spots for you!

Eat

New York, Chelsea, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, City Guide

I often write about how tasty I ate, but the breakfast at Eat by Chloe was by far the best vegan breakfast I’ve had! That’s why I’m so excited about opening a shop in London! As you can see in the pictures, we exaggerated! A smoothie alone would have satiated me enough, but of course, I could not resist the pancakes or morning oats! The highlight was, of course, the swing at the table! If you not only want to eat well but also want to take cool pictures, this is the place for you!

New York, Chelsea, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, City Guide

Recently the VS angels were spotted here. Unfortunately, not on the day we were there. BUT our Australian waiter could perfectly convey the Australian coffee culture in the cafe. After my #AvoSmash, I was not only overjoyed with the fresh taste but also that the High Line is only a 3-minute walk away! BTW Madison Square is also within walking distance.

Who does not know it? Many food markets are taking an example from the Chelsea Market today! Whether its lobster, a burger or Pad Thai, you get everything here for a fair price and with A1 quality! The Lobster Place is a must for lobster, shellfish, oysters, sushi, and fish lovers! We were even here twice during our short stay, and you can walk on the High Line to reach the Chelsea Market! We walked from the Chelsea Market through the Greenwich Village district to Soho to see the famous streets, Gossip Girl locations, the Sex and the City apartment and Washington Square.

To Do

Flatrion Building – Ein New Yorker Wahrzeichen! One of New York’s famous landmarks.

Chelsea Market – Erlebt den berĂŒhmtesten Food Market in New York. Experience the most famous food market in New York.

Get off the busy streets and enjoy a walk along the High Line. A 2,3km long Park, which was once a rail line.

You will find everything what you need here!

DUMBO – Down under the Manhattan Bridge – Hier lohnt es sich nur hinzufahren, wenn ihr New York von Brooklyn aus sehen möchtet! I only recommend to drive to Brooklyn if you want to see New York from the other side.

Stay

New York, Chelsea, Fasten Ur Seatbelts, City Guide

Live like a New Yorker in a 2-star hotel in the heart of Chelsea. The rooms are very small, and the hotel has no elevator, but you can live in New York for an unbeatable price. I recommend you book a room with a bath, so you have more storage space. From here you can make all my recommendations on foot!
